I've been struggling with a computer problem for ages..well ever since Amanda got her laptop for school and left the desktop I bought her with me!! It seems for reason's unknown to anyone that the college network disables system restore on all the students computers in their system.

Well to me system restore is a vital element in keeping your computer running well so this has driven me crazy for about 2 years. Today I was trying to find an answer online....there were many and most just said to use the My Computer 'properties' window to turn it on..DUH..I'd know that..IF IT WOULD WORK..but it would just say..no no no.you can't do that.!!

Well this webpage I visited today really gave some indepth information and I went deep in the belly of Windows 'services' menus. You'd be amazed at the crap that's hidden in your operating system. Anyway, I followed instructions and lo and behold..I learned how to turn it back on at a deeper level and now I have system restore again !! I know this might not sound like a great accomplishment to some but I'm over the moon to have finally figured this out !!!!!

Candy...patting herself on the back ;-))

Ok you might be getting tired of me complaining about computer issues..but here goes anyway..I got a router for Amanda for Christmas so she could be online with my system with her laptop.

Well, I've wrecked the better part of today trying and failing with the 'easy install' Linksys router and ended up making my IP address disappear so then spent a good hour talking to (AND trying to understand ) a nice young lady in the Phillipines to help me get my desktop back online..and still no router connection. GOOD GRIEF !!!

Well here goes ,,,My aunt Edna died i nSouth Africa and left no will ,,no kids so 6 of us are next of kin ,,me ,my 2 brothers my sister and two cousins . fair enough,,, then after 2 weeks my sister suddenly says she has a 2 year old letter from Edna saying if she came over to SA my sister would benifit and her 2 kids would be i n her will She didnt go Ive seen the letter,, its rambling She was off her head by then .I have one saying shes leaving everything to a eye hospital i n london / My sister says this is her will which weve said is rubbish. My sister wants it to be an 8 way split now to include her 2 kids. I said what about the other kids? One brother said ok to a 8 way split but my elder brother roy and 2 cousins want it 6 ways. my neice alison came to see me,, to get round me. It was very friendly but when she was goin home i said that her mother would support her with what money she got as would all the others of us with our families. She got upset saying i had stabbed her in the back She needed the money .. she went home and told my sister i was greedy and hazel had upset her ( a lie) For a week Ive had messages left on my machine my sister screaming at me "you disgust me! you greedy gold digger! our mother would think you were a disgrace etc" They think its hazel behind my decision so shes getting vile remarks. I know roy's kids could do with the money too but roy will see them ok Alison s been telling all kinds of lies to fuel my sister .Jeanette even rang me i nthe night and woke me up screaming at me that alison was havin councellin and it was all my fault. I put the phone down. My sisters in touch with the SA solictor and wont let anyone else know the number or address so my cousin is takin action over that. It really has turned ugly Arrraghhh

Oh Donno! I feel for you I really! There's nothing to bring out the worst in families than a bereavement. It happens in the closest of families!

As I see it, there is no point with people bickering and getting irate because the law will sort and divide your Aunts estate. It's the law, even in South Africa, as far as I can tell anyway, so the appointed solicitor will decide who has what. It can take months so sort, even years!

I quote: If the deceased is survived by a descendant or descendants, but not by a spouse then the descendant or descendants will inherit the intestate estate.

But you probably knew all that anyway.

My thoughts are with you and yours Donno - Kaz

Stephen I'm so sorry for all this and that on top of losing your aunt you're family will most likely not recover from all this. Money can be a terrible wedge. It was wrong of your sister to send in her daughter to soften you up. She's only thinking of herself.

I hope someone else gets ahold of the lawyer in South Africa and this will get sorted in the proper way. It would really be unfair to include Alison's 2 children if not the rest of the children involved. Makes me want to go make myself a will...(not that I have anything to fight over)

Where there's a will there's a war!!!!  Kaz is right - this goes on all the time - I had a friend who's mother in law died.  One week before she died in hospital her husbands sister said the mother no longer wanted to talk to him... there had been no rift.  He never got to see his mum alive again.  After the funeral his sister behaved oddly - they soon found out why.  During the last week a new will was written up in which everything was left to his sister.

After a few months when everything was settled (he refused to fight the will) his sister turned up saying that their mother had asked her to give him £500.  The money left was £75,000!  He told his sister to keep it and he never spoke to her again.

This is something similar.  Your neice may be going through a hard time but what does that have to do with the price of eggs??

The love of money is the root of all evil.  How incredibly sad.

Right is on your side Stephen.

Do you know it took my neice a 3 hour drive to my house from yon side of Staffordshire. When she got here she stayed about 4 hours then went home, I saw her off and she wasnt very happy . She then rang me half way home and pleaded with me for a 8 way split ,, then she said 7 ways to exlude her brother! i said no it would be 6 way split She started wailin and said how nasty I had turned. She mustve got home .I was in bed sunday night when i got a call My neice saying had I seen a black and white dog? i said what?? She had visited me with a dog i nthe car It had been left i nher car all the time We had no idea. I said ring back in 5 minutes. I got dressed ,,went out on our drive and said "dogggie dogggie dogggie" I looked down and there was a black and white jack russell lookin up at me I said Oh - my -god"It mustve jumped out her car when isaying bye to her. i took the scared little thing in and said yes I have it She said "im coming back" So she had to drive 3 hours back. I waited up for her We had to be for work at 4-30 am At 11pm she arrived I stood at the door She took it off me with a thanks Turned on a sixpence and left. I said to her "how could you forget yr dog?" she turned and said "because I was crying all the way home" She knew my sister would give her hell about losing the dog so she told her she didtn know the dog had gone because Hazel had had a go at her about holidays and upset her. My sister told my brother this .

Oh Stephen..to think anyone who knows you would act this way !!  And why shouldn't you go to Australia?  It's not you who was singing the blues about money.  I suppose they'll never understand it's not really about the money, but about what's right.  It's heartbreaking of course but then again if as you say she's always been of an unpleasant attitude then this is nothing new except it's all so intense now.  It sounds to me like this neice has alot of issues if she'd even not notice a dog missing from her car.

Please don't feel that you made her cry..most likely she's spoiled and looking for a quick fix to some poor financial decisions.

wot i dont understand from these type of people  is, if there were no monies to gain they would still have to sort them selves out, after all they did not know when they got themselves into such a mess, that ur aunt would die when she did,  and also its up to the parents of ur niece to help her  not the aunts an uncles ....but then greed is a very bad thing

My sister had left me some horrible messages on my answering phone but when i find the dog ,Alison had left behind, she rang me weeping "is my precious safe?please Stephen tell me shes safe" i told her the dog was safe in our house. The next day i came home to more vile messages from her! It seems Alison had been telling her all sorts. One part of the messages said "Dont you dare go to our mother's grave !she 'll be turning in it!" then she said for Hazel to hear "and Hazel ,dont you go to yr mother's grave as well!" Hazel said it would be hard, she was cremated!
yes my sister is mad as a hatter

Words fail me Donno, they really do!

All I can say is, you've not to dwell on all this otherwise it will make you ill.

I agree with Mavis, greed IS a bad thing and unfortunately people don't realise that they are acting this way. Their thoughts are overwhelming them and the more they think about it the more consumed in anger and bitterness  they become. It's quite sad really!

And how could someone forget their dog for goodness sake?? Proves how caught up in the situation they are - Kaz

All you can do is to rise above it.  You have done nothing wrong and as long as you remember that then you must not let such accusations affect you.

How hateful can people be at times when they should be lending support to one another.  mavis is absolutely right - it is not for the rest of the family to sort out your neice's financial troubles.  perhaps she could suggest that her mum can hand over the entire of her share!!

My sister and neice have been with holding the SA attorny's address and number from the rest of us much to our annoyance Well, my cousin Charles got a private eye to find it for £200 and he got it within 3 days. My neice had said shed emailed all our names and addresse but according to Charles the SA attorny had never heard of me, my brothers and cousins! So i sent a snotty text to Alison who answered "calling me a liar??" i said why doesnt he know us?? So Alison rang my sister in law wailing about me. Next thing i get a call from my sister and we end up shouting, When she she said "our mother ,,," I said Dont you dare bring our mother into it! dont you dare say things about my mother and me ! This shut her up and we ended up talking calmly,Shes sick of it all and we both cant believe Aunt Edna didnt make a will. Theres an uneasy peace with my sister and I now. My elder brother Roy has been getting the snarls from her now , im going to just sit and let Charles take over . I hear Alison is now in bed sick with stress etc . I feel nothing for her anymore. Hazel has told me any cards to my sister 's lot must not have her name on it which I understand

Seems to me Alison has stress from far more areas than you not bowing down to her wants and needs.  I do NOT blame Hazel at all.  What a mess..I hope your brother can sort them out.  Just remember Stephen..we all love ya.
