If you are needing prayers for yourself or someone you know, if you just want some support for a trying time, if you need to share your troubles to make them bearable... here's the place. Express gratitude, forgiveness, caring, suport. This group has shown its concern and caring for its members in the past, and we are always here for each other.

Thank you so much - your prayers are appreciated.  My father is being cared for at home - he has yet to regain use of left side but we have seen some movement in left leg - which bears out the doctor's assertion that he is not paralysed it is just a question of getting the brain to recognise that side of his body.

His dementia of course remains but is now "just Dad" - he remembers things from donkeys' years ago and related them as if they happened yesterday - however what happened yesterday is very unlikely to be remembered at all.

He also has to have all food pureed as he is unable to swallow properly and thus unpireed food would run the risk of going sdown the wrong way and ending up on his lungs.  he looks thin and those legs look like they wouldn't hold him up were he able to stand anyway - so we watch as he is lifted between bed and chair in a hoist and there is a feeling of such deep sadness - it is hard to describe.  Yet he is with us and we are thankful for that.

And I am so thankful to all of you for caring and buoying me up during desolate times. xxx

Two days to Buffalo, come and gone and the news is good.  I've gotten the all clear..come back in 6 months.  If I'm good again then, I'll go back in a year..too soon to say I've beaten it, I'm sure but getting there.

I grumbled alot about being scheduled to drive up there two days in a row, but as it turned out, one daughter went with me on Tues..took me out for lunch, and otherwise had a great time..then on Wed another went with and took me out for lunch.. went shopping that the ENORMOUS JoAnn Fabrics in Orchard Park and otherwise had a great time so no more grumbling.

...........It's all good.

Sue..I dont know if this is any help for your Dad....
You cand get "Fortisip" from the doctor ...it comes in a drink form a bit like a milk shake but in lots of flavours...

Also there is a powder that you can put in anything food or drink it is coulorless and tasteless and it just adds calouries to help build him up..
It is very good stuff I had to use it untill i learnt to swallow ..
Your Dad could use this as a meal replace, ent it he wishes

Hope that is of some help....
