I guess this isn't amazing thing ever said to me. I have to laugh to myself everytime I hear this line.
I took a girl to a concert one night. It was a Dick Clark Show and the Bands that were playing were " The Drifters" , The Association, and The Guess Who". Wow what a great show they put on. My date had a great time. She was standing up and screaming like a little teenage girl, clapping and singing . I never saw anyone enjoy themselves
That Much before.
After the concert we went out for a bite to eat and a few drinks. the place had a disc jockey and we danced the nite away. during our slow dance she kissed me and the romanced started . My heart was floating on air.
I drove her home and sat in her driveway till the sun come up, talking and kissing .
When she went to get out of the car I asked her if I could see her again? She paused and said." I'd Like to just be friends".
 I couldn't believe my ears.
I waited a couple days and called her back . ( I wanted to be sure if thats what she really wanted) When she answered the phone I said hello Diana. and she said " I thought I told you I just wanted to be friends"?
Crikey" What's a Man to do?

This is an amazing thing I said to a date.I was with this good workfriend of mine called Gloria Machin. I had always held a torch for her and she saw me as a very good friend She was blonde and very pretty. I knew her love had dumped her and she sat there telling me all about it A week later .,having a quiet drink with her and we were still talking about Jeremy who had done the dirty on her . I then said to her " you know what? " she said "what?", i said "If you cant be with the one you love ,,love the one your with!" She laughed and hugged me. It worked! We went to Skeggie for the weekend. Had the most wow time . I still go past that hotel and smile
She now lives in Wales ..hope shes happy

Aw, you BOYS!!!  How you think !!

I remember way back then too.  I was asked to a dance at good old Ripley High!!  Our dances were held in the 'little' gym..As I sit here thinking about it, I can see the stage, with the huge curtains the bleachers all folded up. there were tables around the edges.  I honestly don't remember if there was a band or if we just had a DJ  ...   It was in the '60's so you know what kind of music was playing...They don't make music like that anymore.  One Beatles song was playing.  I was sitting with my date..Oh did I mention I was quite young?  So we were sitting there in the subdued light..the mood was romantic I suppose..I don't remember that either.. This had to be more than 40 years ago.  So I was listening to the music when suddenly my date, from across the table started singing LOUDLY...

"I wanna hold your haaaaaaaaaaaaaaanddddd"

Do you remember that Bob???

We would have been too young for beehives back then.  I had long straight hair at that time too.  I was only 10 or 11 when The Beatles became famous - 18 when they split up - but they captured the imagination back then - did any of us miss the impact of Beatlemania!!  No band before or after has had or ever could have the that kind of influence.  My mum and dad were fans and us kids were fans.  The Fab 4

Hey I wanna be included in that Karaoke session.  I have a few of Paul's songs in my repertoire.

Most amazing thing a date ever said to me.  I was in Greece on holiday with my then fiance and we were sharing a bottle of wine on the terrace.  He looked at me and said "You know - your nose looks huge in the moonlight!"

This is absolutely true and I thought it was hysterical.  I went on to marry him and have three kids with him - and to learn that his insults were not cute at all.

Yeah Donno.....and Captain Webb's will never be forgotten either. That's where we were when we danced and had a bite to eat. oh and our first Kiss. The girl I was with Use to be a Model and would do poses at Jamestown Comm. College. She was so sizzling Hot. I wrote a poem about her and it's registered with the National Library of Congress.
Instead  of kareoke... I'll play the guitar and we can both sing the beatle songs. I still know all my favorites by heart.

I Don't think your nose is large at all Sue ... I think It's a very nice nose.

Let me see. I don't remember tables, but I remember chairs circled around the gym. and over in the corner was an old jukebox and the kids were spinning 45's . I also remember Merle saying something to me and I was off with him, and you went home alone....... I was so thoughtless back then...... Sorry  Candy

I don't have a large nose at all and hence I laughed at him then.  Didn't keep on laughing down the years though.  But he gave me the greatest gifts of all - My 3 lovely sons - the partners they have brought into my life and my grandchildren.  How could I ever regret anything?

Bob - your girl was a bit flighty - you are better off.  Those model girl looks were not reflected beneath her skin were they.

Guess I'll have a go at this. I've been trying to think of something amazing someone said to me, and the best one is:  Before we met, Bob and I had been talking on the CB radio and he asked me what I looked like. I told him "gorgeous", of course. He didn't believe me cuz that's what all the women say on the radio. So when we finally stopped for coffee, he came over to the car, opened the door, took one look and said, "You ARE gorgeous!"  He tells people he opened the car door and fell in love.
