This is my 2nd year going to conference.  Last year I rode some sort of tram thing that was under construction and we ended up walking a long way to the hotel.  (we could see it in the distance -- which ended up being farther than it looked!)  Coming home, I did the HO tour and they took us right to the airport.  So, this year I am wondering what is the best way to get to the hotel and back to the airport.  Please share what you do.

Thanks!
Sandi

I am going to use the shuttle.  Last time that I went I used the train, but I had 3 other gals with me.  This time I am alone.  I will not ride the train alone.  Consultants Corner has a link where you can reserve your shuttle.  It is $26.50 one way.

If you have 10 people it is $139.50 (or something like that) for all ten ($13.50 per person).  My director keeps telling me that I will be able to find a group to go with when I get there.  That doesn't settle me because I am a needs-to-know-right-away type person.

There really are lots of PC people coming in at all times and everyone tries to group together. You can print off a save $2 coupon online on CC on the conference page. Print off 2 one for each way. When you group up with 2 other people, 3 or more can travel from Midway for $10 each way or O' Hare is $12 each way. See you guys there :-)

O’Hare Airport (ORD) Midway Airport (MDW)
$27 one way (I) $22 one way (I)
$49 round trip (I) $37 round trip (I)
$19 one way (II) $15 one way (II)
$35 round trip (II) $27 round trip (II)
$14 one way (III+) $12 one way (III+)
$27 round trip (III+) $22 round trip (III+)
Print a coupon to present to the driver

Usually, I take the 'El' (train/subway/watever you want to call it) from Midway - if you're at the Palmer house, it pretty much goes right there.  I remember a couple years ago, I took the El to the city then transferred to a bus which stops at the bottom of the hill by the Sheraton.  Not sure about the other hotel but if you hit the CTA website you can get directions on what to do.  If anyone else is taking the El into town from Midway on the 13th (around 2:30 or so) let me know & we can sit together - I'll probably have a PC shirt on anyway, lol.  It's not bad at all & I'm used to it (being from the Phila. area, I ride mass transit when I'm in town - less hassle than driving).

I am looking for 2 people to share a limo from Midway to Chicago Hilton around 3:00 on Sunday, July 13th. Rate would be $16. Please contact me if you are interested

FYI - I was checking CTA last night & from midway, you get off @ state & lake and it's about 1/2 mile walk to the Sheraton (or you can take the bus from the Van Buren stop if you really want) and it's only $4 or so round trip

Here's the link if you're coming/going from elsewhere (o'hare, etc)  Of course, if you're bringing a big bag you might be better off using the airport shuttles but it's up to you.   I'm attempting to pack lightly but we'll see how that goes... LOL

If you are traveling from O'Hare by El, be sure to check on construction.  We were told that there is construction at the O'Hare El stop and you have to get on a shuttle to take you to the El stop, then get on the El and go to a bus stop then get on a bus to go to Chicago Hilton.  Just make sure your plans work.  Can be done, just alot of transfers and loading and unloading of luggage.  We decided to do the airport shuttle even though it cost more.

I am driving to Charlotte so I can fly with my Director (and the ticket was SO much cheaper).  We are doing a Limo!  For a group it is apparently cheaper than a Van.  Won't that be cool?

If you have a group you're going with a cab is a good option too. I'm sharingone with three others and should be pretty cheap. On the way back I think we'll get a shuttle since we have to go straight from McCormick Place.
