What do you take to a show?

Right now I only take what will fit in the big bag that came with the kit. I make sure that I have all items needed to make the recipes. I don't want to make numerous trips to the car. It has worked well so far. IMO

I have my big bag (the one that's $20 on the supply order), the tool turn about (in the tote), a dirty dishes pan, and 2-3 tote bags of paperwork. I don't want to make more than 2 trips.
In the big bag I have whatever I need for the recipe plus whatever fits that I want to display specially (this month's and next month's specials).

I take everything that is needed to make the recipe, the tool turnabout (seems everyone likes to touch all the little gadgets) I always ask the host if there is anything she is interested in seeing and take that along with my tote bags with paperwork. When I go to the door I have my paperwork and turnabout tote then return to car for the product in one big tote.

I take everything needed for the recipe along with the cookbook it comes from.  1 bag with paperwork needed and if there's anything the host specifically requested to see.  I even stopped taking the next month's specials because it is just too much.  If there is one thing I do not like about my job is that I have to take so much stuff...and heavy stuff!  So I figure to make it easier, I'm not going to bring anything extra.  I don't even take my TTA all the time.  I'm really trying to cut down drastically on what I'm taking...which wasn't much anyway honestly.  But I want to get in the house in one trip.  At least that's my goal.  Lately I've been making two trips.  Not bad.  But when I noticed that the less I took with me didn't make an impact on sales, I decided why take more than I need?!

Right on, Michelle! I'm making a goal this year to only take what's absolutely necessary. I'm tired of lugging heavy bags around and the host asking her husband to help me to my car!

I do like to take the Pantry items, though, because I think people like to smell them before buying them. Maybe that's a strange thought, but sometimes even the smell (sweet sprinkles) can change someone's mind and make them order it!

I'm guilty of over-packing as well, but my rolling case just broke so now it's useless.  For tonight's show I'm bringing one crate and the big black rectangle thing (the one that they give to new consultants now I think).  Packed in those two items are all the tools I need to make the recipe (cheating tonight because I'm using the Host's Executive 12"), my dirty dish pan, some "party in a bag" bags.  I also carry my paperwork in my PC soft briefcase.

For anyone who brings their TTA - DON'T do it.  People start talking about the little (read cheaper) items and then you can never get them back to talking about the cookware, knives or other big-ticket items that increase sales & bookings.  I swear my show average shot up a few years ago when I stopped taking it - I just couldn't do another show where everyone talked about how great the mini serving spatula & $1 knife were.  My average is now at a little over $1,000 for live shows.  Just try it - leave it home for a few shows and see what happens.  Just my 2 cents.

Your AVERAGE show is around $1000?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!

I do take the TTA but I have the color coated knife collection, both scraper collections, food chopper, mix n chop, garlic press, and kitchen shears, and just a few other items. I guess my thinking was that these were good and easy add-ons to an order if ppl could see them.

Hmmm. I just might give that a try of not taking the TTA and see what happens. I can throw scrapers, spoons, garlic press, other little tools somewhere else. And, one less bag to carry! Thanks for the tip!

Oh I totally agree about bringing spices and sprinkles!!!  When people smell them I always have quite a few add on orders for them!  It's just too hard to pass up those sprinkles once you smell them.  At my last party I told everyone as they're passing it around that they are sooooo good on everything.  Everytime I use the caramel ones I have to sprinkle a bit in my hand and eat it!!  lol!  I told everyone to feel free to have a taste themselves...but only a taste, you have to save some for me I'm totally addicted to them!  I sold 4 bottles I probably won't have if I wouldn't have brought them!

Speaking of the Sprinkles, I now have SEVERAL ppl addicted to them & as a result have return customers just for the Sprinkles, and of course they usually add a few more items onto their order esp since they're going to be spending the $ on the flat shipping.

Hey, all,
I just heard something yesterday that I haven't tried yet.  That is to take the tool turnabout full of stuff, but put it at the checkout area... some people will play with the smaller items while they checkout and will ADD small items to their order!  may be worth a try!!!
