I've seen lots of good recipes and party ideas but I'm not sure I've seen any Halloween recipes that would be good to do as a demo.  You know quick with lots of high dollar tools.

I think making caramel apples would be an awesome demo!  I'd do it hands on so each person gets to make their own!  You have your cookware to melt the caramel.....better if you have a double boiler!  Then you use the food chopper to chop up nuts.  Put the nuts on SA so they can roll the caramel apples in them and also have some chocolate sprinkles in your prep bowls, then sprinkle them onto a SA small square and dip those too!

Then you can also just demo the US&G with an apple.  Use the corer to get the core out and then slice!  Then you can also demo the Apple Wedger, THEN.....take some extra caramel and drizzle over the apple wedges.  You could also do the APCS, and the large micro cooker.....put the apples into the micro cooker with a little butter and some cinnamon/sugar and you have a spiced apple ice cream topping!  You don't have to do enough for everyone for these demos, just enough to show it off!  I'd probably not even microwave the apples with cinnamon/sugar....just go through the steps)

Lots to do with apples!  Use lots of SA and you can even show off the new Woven Selections with finished caramel apples!

Michelle,

I did a short demo at my show on Wed night with an apple and the US&G and didn't core it. The cool thing was, where the seeds would have been, were holes that made a little star. I've seen it before when you cut an apple across the middle horizontally (like for stamping with paint) but with the slices, it was really neat looking. I could see using them as a garnish for something. The ladies at the show thought it was cool, too.

How do you not core the apple using the APSC?

susan,
use the little wrench that came w/ your APCS to loosen teh coring blade just enough to push it down out of the way.no need to remove it.

ps- been trying to post this all day!

I am making a spice or pumpkin cake in the Stoneware fluted pan (microwave 12 minutes) and decorating it to look like a pumpkin - frost with orange tinted frosting. I take 1/2 cup of the batter out and put it in  a prep bowl - microwave 1 minute.  That becomes the stem with a little trim and green food coloring in the frosting.

I am bring with me a couple of meringue pumpkins or cupcake spiders to garnish the plate. Or chocolate ghosts.

Meringue Pumpkins
3 egg whites, 1 cup sugar, 1 Tbsp. lemon juice, 1/2 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 tsp. almond extract, 1 tsp. orange food coloring, 1/4 tsp. green food coloring.

Blend sugar, lemon juice, vanilla & almond extract and orange food coloring.  In separate bowl beat egg whites adding 1-2 Tbsp. sugaar mixture at a time until stiff peaks (about 10 minutes with electric mixer). Reserve 2 TBSP of mixture.

Drop by small scoop onto stone (with or without parchment paper).  Add green food coloring to reserved mixture and drop a very small amount on top of each cookie to make stem. Bake at 150 degrees for 1 hour or until cookies are dry.  Makes 8 dozen.

Cupcake Spiders
Prepare chocolate cake according to package directions.  Put into wells of mini-muffin pan and bake according to directions for mini muffins.  Cool completely on stackable cooling rack.  Using Bread Knife cut muffins in half.  Frost bottom half with chocolate frosing and insert pieces of black string licorice to make spider legs. Place top of muffin over frosting and frost. Add cinnamon candies for eyes.  I intend to try this with the new Silicone Pan to make fancy spiders (no top frosting except enough to attach eyes).

I am also going to try using oreos. Will try putting licorice into the filling and then adding the candy eyes.

Chocolate Ghosts
Melt white chocolate squares. Spread into ghost shapes on parchment paper. Use chocolate chips for eyes.  Cool to set.

Pumpkin Cake
Spice version - Using a spice cake mix, use directions and ingredients on box. Put 1/2 cup batter in oiled prep bowl. Microwave 1 minute.  Remove from bowl to cool completely.Prepare stoneware fluted pan (I spritz oil and then spread it with a paper towel to be sure all surfaces are oiled - mine is very seasoned but I still do this with that particular pan). Cook in microwave 12 minutes or until edges separate from pan and cake tester comes out clean (don't over cook or it will be dry). Invert onto plate, cool completely.  Reserve about 1/2 cup prepared cream cheese frosting.  Tint remaining frosting with orange food coloring.  TInt reserved frosting with green frosting.  Frost cake with orange frosting.  Trim prep bowl cake to resemble stem. I put a small shot glass in center of cake to assure that stem doesn't sink.) Put stem onto cake, frost with green frosting.

Pumpkin version - As above but replace oil and water in cake mix recipe with pumpkin (not pie filling).

Does anyone remember the "mummy" braid from a year or two ago? I'm trying to figure out how to shape it for my halloween show.

I just bought a Halloween Cookbook from Walmart the other day.  It's put out by Taste of Home.  It has a recipe for Yummy Mummy Calzones.  Complete with pictures.  I checked thier website and they didn't have a picture.  It's with the magazines by the checkouts if that helps any.

Here's the Recipe...sorry no pics though...

Yummy Mummy Calzones

2 loaves frozen bread dough -- thawed (1pound each)
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese -- 6 ounces
1/2 cup pizza sauce
50 pepperoni slices
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1 egg -- beaten
2 ripe olive slices -- cut in half

Roll out each piece of dough into a rounded triangle shape, about 14 inches long and 11 inches wide at the base of the triangle. Place each on a parchment-lined baking sheet with the tip of the triangle toward you.  Lightly score a 4 inch wide rectangle in the center of the triangle 2 inches from the top and bottom. On each long side, cut 1 inch strips at
an angle up to the score line, leaving a triangle in the top center of the wide end for the head.

Inside the scored rectangle in the center, layer cheese, pizza sauce, pepperoni and green pepper. Shape the top center triangle into a head.  Starting at the ehad, fold alternating strips of dough at an angle across filling, stopping at the last strip on each side. Fold the bottom dough tip up over the filling, then fold the remaining two strips over the top; press down firmly.

Brush dough with egg. Cover and let rise for 15 minutes. For eyes, press olive pieces into head. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 28 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 5 minutes before slicing.
