I've been waiting to do this for a couple weeks now! Then after Deb posted her question about her booth, I thought we could start a Valentines thread of ideas to share with guests and how to dress up the table! Here are a few that I had from last year that I shared: Kitchen Ideas... - Tuxedo Brownie Bites are perfect for Valentines Day. You can take the V-shaped cutter and cut the stem of the strawberry...then slice. Makes a cute heart shape to put on top!
- Cut your morning pancakes or toast into little heart shapes for your kids/grandkids using the heart cookie cutter from the Kid's Cooking Set. You can also use the heart to make fun sandwiches for lunch!

Just did a search for Valentines Recipes & here's what I came up with. Enjoy! Marian Valentine's Day CandiesValentine's Day Cinnamon Pecans
1 c Sugar 1/2 c Water 3 ts Cinnamon 1 ds Salt 3 1/2 c Pecans
Combine sugar and water. Cook to soft ball stage.
Add cinnamon and salt and mix well. Add the pecans.
Stir until it hardens.
Pour out and let cool. Valentine's Day Coconut Bon Bons
15 oz Sweetened condensed milk 1/2 c Butter, or margarine 2 c Confectioners' sugar 12 oz Coconut, grated dried 24 oz Semi-sweet chocolate 4 tb Shortening
Mix together condensed milk, butter, sugar and coconut. Cover with wax paper and chill for 24 hours.
Melt chocolate with shortening.
Roll coconut mixture into balls and using a fork dip the balls into the chocolate.
Drop on wax paper (I'd use parchment paper!) to cool and dry. | Valentine's Day Chocolate Sticks
2 Squares bitter chocolate 1/2 c Butter 1 c Sugar 2 Eggs 1/4 ts Salt 1/2 ts Vanilla 1/2 c Flour 1/2 c Chopped pecans or walnuts
Melt chocolate with butter and add a cup of sugar. Stir well. Stir in the eggs, first the yolks and then the whites which have been beaten with the 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Add vanilla, half a cup of flour and fold in the nuts.
Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, or until done.
Cut into slim rectangular sticks. Easy No-Beat Fudge for Valentine's Day
1 1/3 c Sugar 2/3 c Evaporated milk (small can) 3 tb Butter or margarine 3 pk Semi-sweet chocolate pieces (6 oz each) 3 c Miniature marshmallows 1/2 c Chopped walnuts 1/2 c Candied cherries; halved
Combine sugar, milk and butter or margarine in a medium-size heavy saucepan; heat to boiling over medium heat, stirring constantly; cook for 6 minutes, or until candy thermometer reaches 227F.
Remove from heat; add chocolate pieces and marshmallows; stir until chocolate and marshmallows are melted and mixture is smooth; quickly stir in walnuts and cherries.
Spoon into buttered 8x8x2" pan and let stand until set; cut into squares.
Makes about 3 pounds. Valentine's Day CakeHeavenly Valentine's Day Chocolate Cheesecake
2 c Vanilla Wafers, Fine Crush 1 c Ground Toasted Almonds 1/2 c Butter, Melted 1/2 c Sugar 12 oz Milk Chocolate Chips 1/2 c Milk 1 ea Env. Unflavored Gelatin 16 oz Cream Cheese, Softened 1/2 c Sour Cream 1/2 ts Almond Extract 1/2 c Heavy Cream, Whipped 1 x Garnishes *
* Whipped cream and chocolate shavings (optional).
In large bowl, combine vanilla waver crumbs, almonds, butter and sugar; mix well. Pat firmly into 9-inch springform pan, covering bottom and 2 1/2 inches up the sides. Set aside.
Melt over hot (not boiling) water milk chocolate chips; stir until smooth. Set aside.
Pour milk into small saucepan; sprinkle gelatin over top. Set aside for 1 minute.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until gelatin dissolves. Set aside.
In large bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, and melted chocolate chips; beat until fluffy. Beat in gelatin mixture and almond extract. Fold in whipped cream.
Pour into prepared pan. Chill until firm (about 3 hours).
Run knife around edge of cake to separate from pan; remove rim.
Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings, if desired. Makes 1 9-inch Cheesecake
Cheesecake Tip: To easily cut cheesecake, take a long strand of plain dental floss, stretch it taut, and gently press it through the cake. When you reach the bottom of the cheesecake, simply pull the floss out from underneath. Valentine's Day Peanut Butter Cake
3/4 c unsalted butter 3/4 c creamy peanut butter 2 c packed brown sugar 3 ea eggs 2 c all purpose flour 1 tb baking powder 1/2 ts salt 1 c milk 1 ts vanilla
Peanut Butter Filling: 1 c cream cheese, softened 1/2 c creamy peanut butter
Chocolate Glaze: 1/2 c water 4 tb unsalted butter 1/2 c cocoa 1 c powdered sugar 1 ts vanilla
In large mixing bowl, cream butter and peanut butter until light and fluffy. Add brown sugar. Mix to blend.
Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture to butter and peanut butter mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Add vanilla.
Pour batter into 2 well greased and floured 9 inch cake pans.
Bake in preheated 350 degree oven until cake tests done, about 45 minutes.
Cool on wire rack to room temperature before frosting the cake.
Spread half of Peanut Butter Filling over tops of each cake. Chill.
Spread half of Chocolate Glaze over peanut butter topping on each cake, using metal spatula dipped in hot water. Spread glaze over cake while glaze is warm.
As glaze cools, it will thicken.
Peanut Butter Filling: Cream ingredients together until light and fluffy.
Chocolate Glaze: Place water and butter in small saucepan. Bring to a boil. Add cocoa, sugar and vanilla to water mixture. Mix until smooth.
Note: This recipe will make two 9 inch cakes or one stacked layer cake.
If making the stacked layer cake, the Peanut Butter Filling should be put between the layers and on top of the cake before topping it with the Chocolate Glaze. Valentine's Day PieValentine's Day Golden Apple Pie with Rum Sauce
7 ea golden delicious apples 1/4 c brown sugar 2 tb flour 1/2 ts cinnamon 1/8 ts nutmeg 1/4 ts salt 1 x Pastry for a 2 crust 9" pie 1/4 c chopped nuts 2 tb rum 2 tb butter
Combine apples with brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Place in a 9" pastry-lined pie plate. Flute edges of crust.
Sprinkle apples with nuts and rum; dot with butter.
Roll out remaining pastry. Cut into 3/4" strips. Arrange strips in a lattice pattern, on top of the pie.
Bake at 425 degrees F. for 50 to 60 minutes or until apples are fork-tender.
Cover top of pie with foil part way through baking time to prevent over-browning of crust.
Serve with Rum Sauce.
Rum Sauce: Combine 1 cup sugar, 3/4 cup water, and 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon in medium size saucepan.
Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes over medium- high heat, stirring constantly. Gradually blend together 2 tbsp. cornstarch and 1/4 cup cold water. Stir into hot sugar mixture.
Cook and stir until thickened.
Stir in 1/2 cup rum;cool slightly.
Serve warm with pie. Valentine's Day Apple Crunch Pie with Cinnamon Ice Cream
6 Juicy sour apples, pared and cored 1 c Flour 1 c Brown sugar 1/4 lb Margarine
Cinnamon Ice Cream: 1/2 pt Whipping cream 2 tb Sugar 1 ts Cinnamon (heaping) 1 qt Vanilla ice cream
Place sliced apples in pie plate.
Whisk together the flour and brown sugar; add margarine and mix until crumbly.
Sprinkle this mixture over apples and bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes or until apples are fork-tender.
Serve warm with Cinnamon Ice Cream.
For Cinnamon Ice Cream: Whip the cream; add sugar and cinnamon. Soften the vanilla ice cream; add cinnamon mixture and whip. Freeze. | Valentine's Day Pumpkin Pie with Ginger Cookie Crust
1 c Canned pumpkin 3/4 c Evaporated skim milk 1/2 c Applesauce 1/4 c Sugar 1/4 c Maple syrup 3 Egg whites 2 ts Cornstarch 1 1/2 ts Pumpkin pie spices 1 1/2 c Gingersnap cookie crumbs Whipped Cream or vanilla ice cream for topping
Combine the pumpkin, skim milk, applesauce, sugar, maple syrup, egg whites, cornstarch and pumpkin pie spices in a large bowl. Beat at medium speed with a mixer.
Coat a 9-inch pie plater with vegetable spray; line with crumbled gingersnap cookie crumbs and pour mixture into the crust.
Bake at 400 degrees F. for about 15 minutes; then reduce heat to 350 and bake for an additional 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream Valentine's Day Cookies Valentine's Day Hidden Hugs Cookies
1 pk Hershey's Hugs Chocolates (8 oz) 1 c Butter or margarine, softened 1/2 c Powdered sugar 1 ts Vanilla extract 2 1/4 c All-purpose flour 1/4 ts Salt 3/4 c Toasted almonds, finely ground (see note) Additional powdered sugar
Heat oven to 400 degrees F.
Remove wrappers from chocolate pieces.
In large mixer bowl, beat butter, powdered sugar amd vanilla until well blended.
Stir together flour and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, beating until well blended. Add nuts; blend well.
Mold scant tablespoon dough around each chocolate piece, covering completely.
Shape into balls.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set.
Cool slightly; roll in powdered sugar.
Cool completely.
Before serving, roll again in powdered sugar, if desired.
Note: To toast almonds, heat oven to 350'F. Spread almonds in thin layer in shallow baking pan. Bake 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until light golden brown; cool. Creme De Menthe Chocolate Squares (Valentine's Day)
Brownies: 1 c Sugar 1/2 c Butter 4 Eggs, beaten 1 c Flour 1/2 ts Salt 1 ts Vanilla 1 cn (16 oz) chocolate syrup
Creme de Menthe Layer: 2 c Confectioners sugar 3 tb Green creme de menthe 1/2 c Melted butter
Glaze: 6 oz Chocolate chips 6 tb Butter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large bowl, cream sugar and butter. Add beaten eggs and blend well. Add flour and salt and mix well. Blend in vanilla and chocolate syrup.
Pour batter into greased 9x13-inch pan. Bake at 350ø for 30 minutes. Cool in pan.
While brownies are cooling, make mint layer by mixing together sugar, creme de menthe and butter. Spread over cooled brownies.
To make glaze: Melt chocolate chips and butter together until smooth. Cool and spread thinly over mint layer.
Chill until ready to serve.
Cut into small squares.
These brownies freeze well. To use: thaw at room temperature for two hours. Valentine's Day Breakfast Valentine's Day Breakfast Casserole
6 Large Eggs 2 c Milk 1 ts Salt 1 ts Dry Mustard 2 Slices White Bread, Cubed 1 lb Sausage Browned 1 c Sharp/mild Cheddar Cheese, shredded
* Use either sharp or mild Shredded Chedder Cheese.
Beat eggs, add milk, salt and mustard, mixing well.
Grease bottom of 9 x 13 baking dish.
Place in layers, first the bread cubes, then the sausage, then the cheese; pour egg mixture over the top.
Refrigerate overnight.
Bake at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes. Let stand about 5 minutes before cutting.
Note: for 8 people use 3 slices of bread and 8 eggs. Caramel Cinnamon Muffins for Valentines Day
3 tb Butter, divided 2/3 c Brown sugar, divided 2 c Sifted flour 3 ts Baking powder 1/2 ts Salt 1 ts Cinnamon 1 Egg 1 c Milk
Grease muffin pans and place 1/2 teaspoon of butter and 1 teaspoon brown sugar in each cup.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon together.
Beat egg; add milk, butter and remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar. Add to sifted dry ingredients, stirring only enough to dampen all the flour.
Fill prepared muffin pans 3/4 full and bake at 425 degrees F. for 18 to 20 minutes. |

Here's some trivia for you to share @ your Valentine's Shows: History of Valentine's Day Every February, across the country, candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint and why do we celebrate this holiday?
The history of Valentine's Day -- and its patron saint -- is shrouded in mystery. But we do know that February has long been a month of romance. St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition.
So, who was Saint Valentine and how did he become associated with this ancient rite? Today, the Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men -- his crop of potential soldiers. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine's actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons where they were often beaten and tortured. According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first 'valentine' greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl -- who may have been his jailor's daughter -- who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed 'From your Valentine,' an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories certainly emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic, and, most importantly, romantic figure. It's no surprise that by the Middle Ages, Valentine was one of the most popular saints in England and France.

Sweetheart Pancakes
1 3-oz package any red flavor sugar free Jell-O 1 1/2 cups prepared pancake batter 1/2 cup mashed banana Vegetable oil spray
To turn these puffy pink pancakes into heart shapes, either make pancakes in rounds and cut with heart-shaped cookie cutter or swirl the batter from your spoon into a heart shape right into the pan.
Makes 1 dozen
Add gelatin to prepared pancake batter in a bowl. Mix together well. Stir in banana puree. Cook pancakes in a skillet lightly sprayed with vegetable oil spray over medium-high heat for a few minutes on each side, until lightly browned (but still pink). Serve to your loved ones on Valentine's Day, a special birthday, or any other day.
Sweetheart Eggs
1 teaspoon margarine Heart-shaped metal cookie cutter 1 egg
A quick, easy, and fun way to say "I love you" in the morning.
Makes 1
Melt margarine in a small saucepan. Place cookie cutter in center of pan. Break egg into cookie cutter and press cutter into pan for a few seconds (wear an oven mitt to avoid burning yourself). Cook egg sunny-side up until done, then serve heart shaped egg to loved one.
Bread Stick Valentines
Vegetable oil spray 1 11-ounce can refrigerated bread stick dough 1 egg 1 tablespoon water Poppy or sesame seeds (optional)
Bread sticks make great dinner side dishes and great craft materials. Let the kids make their own shapes or surprise them with your special creations. We like to make hearts, but you can shape your dough into anything -- first name, initials, flowers, animals, unique designs, even monsters!
Makes 8
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a cookie sheet with vegetable oil spray. Separate dough into eight pieces. Twist or bend each piece into a heart shape or other design and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Blend egg and water together and brush on dough. Add seeds if desired. Bake for 15 minutes, until golden brown.
Variations: You can get quite creative with this recipe by substituting colored sugar, mini red candies, sprinkles or anything else you can think of for the seeds. Afterward you can drizzle melted chocolate over the top or a confectioner's glaze. Have fun!
Cupid's Custard
1 1/2 cups applesauce 1 cup skim milk 4 eggs 1 tsp ground cinnamon plus a little more for tops
Here's a light dessert to serve your loved ones after a big, hearty dinner.
Serves 6
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Whirl ingredients in a blender until smooth. Pour into individual custard cups, sprinkle with a little more cinnamon, and place in large baking pan. Add hot water to depth of one inch. Bake for 45 minutes, until custard is set and a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool and refrigerate until serving time. Valentine Cookie Pops If you are looking for a fun and easy recipe to do with the kids, try these deliciously simple Valentine Cookie Pops. The kids will smile and giggle while making these treats, and will have something fun to give to family, friends, and classmates!
You will need:
20 vanilla wafer cookies 1/2 cup peanut butter 1 6-ounce bag white chocolate chips 1 6-ounce bag semi sweet chocolate chips colored candy sprinkles, red & white pink and red gummy or sour patch bears Cake decorating writer gel in green, pink, red, black, and white 1 tube each of white, red, and pink?cake decorator frosting with flower tip red food coloring ice cream or lollipop?sticks wax paper or paper plates
Instructions:
Spread peanut butter onto the flat side of the cookies. Place an ice cream stick into the peanut butter on half the cookies. Top with another cookie so the stick is sandwiched between the two cookies.

Melt chocolate chips in the microwave, one minute, then in 20 second increments, stirring until smooth. Before melting, seperate the white chips into two bowls. After melting, add a few drops of red food coloring to one of the bowls of white chips to make pink chocolate.
Dip cookie pops in the melted chips, covering completely. Roll pops in red and white sprinkles and lay or stand on waxed paper or paper plates. Place in refrigerator to chill.
Fun Variations
Drizzles Alternating between white chocolate, pink chocolate and semi sweet, drizzle melted chocolate over the cookie to create a cool look!
Writing Write fun Valentine shorts on plain pops such as "Love" or "Hug". Add a gummy bear.
Hearts Use the decorator gel to draw on hearts and hearts with arrows.
Flowers Using the flower tip, pipe on pink flowers with cake decorator icing. Use green gel to add stems and leaves to the bouquet.
Note: Another variation is to use vanilla or chocolate frosting instead of peanut butter for the filling.
These can also be made without sticks. Use one stick to be able to dip the cookies in chocolate and roll in sprinkles, then remove the stick and put on wax paper or paper plates, then chill.

How about for those of you who play a PC version of BINGO, why not use conversation hearts for the markers?? Word Find Take a Valentine related word such as: Valentine, Chocolate, Romance, etc. and find as many little words as possible before the timer runs out. Example: Chocolate Words: late, at, ate, tea, tale, tool, cool, hat, hot, cat, coat... Example: Flowers Words: flow, sew, flew, wore, rose, low, row... Best Dressed Guest: On the party invitations, tell each guest to dress in red or pink and white, and to wear hearts. At the party, give a prize to the guest who is wearing the most hearts. Instead of this for a kids party: Hide small Valentine's Day inspired items all over the house/room for the kids to find. Divide the kids into teams, and give them clues where to find each item. (Make sure the number of each item corresponds with the number of teams). The first team to find every item wins a bag of Valentine's Day stickers. Do THIS for a Valentine Hunt PAMPERED CHEF STYLE: Hide small Valentine Hearts inside guests folders, catalogs, receipts, or wherever, & perhaps even mark #'s on them. Then at the end of the party, have the Host draw one or two corresponding #'s from a bowl & those guests will win a small Valentine Gift from you, like the ones you can get off Paperwork Supply (Cake Tester, Pan Scraper, etc), &/OR give them a FREE SHIPPING COUPON on their order for that show. You can even give out a Chocolate Heart made with the Stoneware Heart Mold. SUPER TIME to talk up the RUFTH campaign!! Oh, there is soooo much you can do with this sort of idea!! Hey, Michelle, COOL pic!! Btw, how exactly would you make these?? Cut out cookies using the Kid's  Cookie Cutter?? Or would you dare to use the Cookie Press  disc?? I know what kind of "success" you've had in the past with the CP.  LOL  Using the Stoneware  Mold would make nice big sized cookies, though you'd be covering half the design with the icing/frosting. Not quite sure how I'll make these yet! I had even thought about the refrigerated dough that Pillsbury has out now that is already in the shape of a heart! Trying to save myself some time...and heartache due to using the Cookie Press!!! I'm still at that stage in our relationship (the cookie press and I) that I'm not ready to completely forgive her yet for causing me so much heartache and headaches. Something "simple" I did when my kids were in preschool was to make roll-out sugar cookie dough. I made 2 or 3 different batches & put different colors of food coloring in each. Then I rolled out the dough, cut circle shaped cookies. Then I took miniature cookie cutters & cut out a shape in the middle of the circle. Then I took a different color of dough & put it in the original circle. I don't know if that explains things very well or not but that's how I made my own version of the slice-n-bake cookies! I had pink hearts in white cookies, white hearts in pink cookies, purple hearts in pink cookies etc. Everyone loved them & they tasted so much better than store bought. Another thing I do when I make cut out cookies is I use powdered sugar instead of flour to keep them from sticking! Bev |

I know this is a wee bit late but since this thread is saved over in our Hot Topics! page I thought I'd go ahead & save this tip: Share with your guests some sweet ways to surprise loved ones with a special treat: - Make heart-shaped French toast using the Kid's Cookie Making Set. Sprinkle toast with a mixture of confectioners' sugar and cocoa powder using the Flour/Sugar Shaker.
- Use the Deluxe Cheese Grater to grate dark or white chocolate into warm milk for homemade hot chocolate.
- Grate dark or white chocolate into our Double Boiler fitted inside a 2-or-3 quart Medium Saucepan (filled partially with simmering water) and melt chocolate. Dip strawberries into melted chocolate for a decadent dessert.
