Hello all.  I am new to this group.  I heard about it this morning from a combined cluster meeting I went to this morning.  I am looking for other cakes that can be done in the Rice Cooker Plus.  I saw the one that is in the new season's best.  I was wondering if there were any others that people are using.  Can any of the fluted stone microwave cakes be done in the RCP?  Any suggestions would be great.

Thank you!

Here is one I saved - haven't tried it yet!

Microwave  Cake in the Rice Cooker Plus

1. Start with a  box cake mix, any flavor (Chocolate to make Chocolate Lava Cake,  etc)

2. In the Rice Cooker  Plus, put the cake mix, and all the  ingredients listed on the box to make  the cake. Using the whisk, mix it  well.

3. Add 4-6 scoops of  prepared canned icing using the Medium Scoop (more icing will make it gooier).

4. Put the lids on, and  cook in the microwave for 9 minutes.

5. Carefully remove lids,  put a dinner plate over the top and flip!

Depending on the cake  mix used (white or yellow) you might  need dress it up with some nuts, grated chocolate or coconut (only for  appearance sake, since the cake will not brown)

6. Great served hot, with  ice cream or whipped topping.

7. Makes  approximately 12  servings.

I have made this lots of times.  My family usually doesn't eat cake but they all
love this.  Both of them wanted to take it to school for their birthday treat.  Everyone
at school loved it as well.  I've always made a chocolate cake with cream cheese
icing.  A couple of weeks ago we did a show & they had purchased a white cake
& chocolate icing.  I was worried about how it would turn out but it was absolutely
wonderful.

A couple of things that the original recipe didn't mention.  Unless your dinner plate
has edges, don't use them!  I did the first time & the cake & icing went everywhere!
Next time I used a simple additions medium plate & it contained everything.  Also,
it's best to wait about 10-15 minutes before you turn it out onto the plate.
Hope that helps!
Bev

Bev (or anyone else who has tried this!) I have a question - do you use the lid when you make a cake in the rice cooker plus?  I made the Warm Hazelnut Cake and it says NOT to use one!  So now I'm confused (and afraid to try it, though I'm dying to try another flavor)!!  TIA, Marilyn

I've used the lid on all the cakes I've made.

Thanks so much Bev - YEA now I'll have the nerve to try this cake on my family this weekend (I'm a non-cook - except for PC recipes which even I can't ruin - so they'll LOVE it!!)  Marilyn

Marilyn,
I think you will love it!  One thing I don't think I mentioned before is
that if you don't have a turntable in your microwave, you might want
to rotate it a couple of times.  I think I mentioned that my family doesn't
usually eat much cake but my high school son loved the cake so much
that I had to make 2 of them to take to his school to share for his
birthday!  Can you imagine a high school boy asking his mom to come
to his class?!?!

Let me know how it turns out & how they liked it!!!
Bev

I'm a couple of months late TELLING you how my family reacted to the Rice Cooker Plus cake - they LOVED it!  I have two grandsons, ages 2-1/2 and 5, and they both got very excited by Mimi making a cake!  In fact we've made a couple more since that first one - LOVE how easy they are!!  One thing I'm doing different - I use the small scoop and space about 6 small scoops around the top of the batter.  I leave the lid off and bake it for 10 minuetes.  In my microwave that works perfectly!!  I grate pecans over the top (well, bottom that becomes the top when you flip it out) just to 'pretty it up' and my family thinks I'm the best!!  Marilyn
