The RECIPE--a KEY to a GREAT Cooking Show

Written and shared by Executive Director Cheryl Bovee

This is an EXCELLENT article to help you look closely at the recipes that you demonstrate!!

Take the time to read this carefully--you will be GLAD you did!!!

Common questions asked by most consultants is:
"How can I run a smooth and effective kitchen show presentation?"
"How do I know what products to show and how many items should I be talking about?"
"How long should my kitchen show last?"

The answer to these questions lies predominately over what recipe you choose to demonstrate.

Some things to consider when choosing recipes:
· Show recipes that demonstrate your favorite tools. If you are showing your favorite products and the ones you are most comfortable using, your tone of voice and body language will send enthusiasm to your audience.
· Your favorite products are usually the ones you sell most often. Look back over your shows or run a report using Pampered Partner and see what you are selling. If you see it's a lot of lower priced products, it's time to take at look at what you are demonstrating.
· It's easy to tell personal stories if you show the products you use.

Customers will relate to your stories and want the tools in their kitchen.
· Be very familiar with the recipe. Start your recipe off my grouping together all the products you will be using. Then while preparing the recipe you show the products in action and re-enforce their usefulness in the kitchen. It's an excellent way to learn how to product group!
· Build your demo around your audience needs during your recipe demo. How do you find this out? Ask questions.
    * During intros ask, "What is your name? In your kitchen would you be considered a gourmet, hobbyist, "ok" kind of cook, or "where is my kitchen" cook?"
   * For example: If you are talking about the food chopper and have a room full of busy moms and a few children you will want to share a few suggestions on how it saves time...in just seconds you can chop of chicken breast for a chicken salad sandwich for a group of kids, or chop of food into smaller more manageable pieces for a toddler.

If your audience is 50 and above this would not be appropriate so you might say something like, "You can make a fast pot of soup with all your favorite veggies and meat. Wash all your veggies, chop, throw into the stock pot, add some southwestern seasoning, and some broth and you have your whole meal in one pot!" Or...isn't it frustrating to get nuts caught in your teeth or dentures? With the food chopper you chop them as fine or as coarse as you want to, enjoying the nutty flavor without nuts stuck to your teeth.
· Guest Specials are important in your recipe selection. Is anyone doing stir-fry this month? What recipes can we use in March to demonstrate the fabulous measuring cups/spoons, or the Host Bonus Products, Stainless Steel Bowls?
· The time of year. Should the oven be on heating up the house? No bake in the summer months, comfort foods in the winter.
· Baking time. Keep your demo 1 hour or less. Statistics show that within the first 20 minutes guests have made up their mind on what they want. What does your recipe show in the first 20 minutes?
· Never do more than 2 recipes. It can be overwhelming for you as the consultant, the audience gets more focused on "what's to eat" than what benefits the products have and it can give the appearance that it is very costly to have a kitchen show.

How Do You Use A Recipe To Book Future Shows?

· Paint word pictures describing a recipe you will feature in March. Say something like, Did you like the recipes tonight? Thanks, Cheryl picked your menu. Next month I'll be highlighting the Strawberry Cheesecake Torte! "What to learn Fuss Free Main Dishes or quick and classy desserts?"
"Did you know that you don't have to spend hours preparing to have your own kitchen show or spend a lot on groceries?" "Wow your guests with our new tasty Spring Recipes from our "new" spring/summer cookbooks the Season's Best, and Casual Cooking!"
·
Demonstrate recipes that use the products in the next months host bonus.
· High Priced Items in your recipe: "Aren't these Knives wonderful? Cheryl for having your kitchen show you can get all 3 for half price if you'd like." "Don't you just love this Food Chopper? It be yours absolutely free when you have your own kitchen show." "Love to have the cookware, ask me how to get it for half the cost?"
·
Have a lull while spreading or braiding? Say, "Besides earning lots of your products free for having your show, you will not pay full price for
any Pampered Chef purchase for a full year following this show because you'll be a member of our host 10% discount club!

How To Use Recipes To Recruit

· Highlight products that come in the kit. Refer to the stars on the order form.
· Use only recipes that Pampered Chef provides-training is easy.

· Highlight Consultant specials. "If you order your kit today, it will include the "new" mini loaf stone absolutely free!
· If you are a teacher, this is a great opportunity to make some extra money over the summer.
· Have fun by being comfortable with your recipe. Know what you are doing before you demonstrate.
· "Watch what I do tonight. The Pampered Chef has given me the opportunity to help other women achieve personal growth and financial success just by sharing timesaving recipes and products to my customers with your own home-based business.
· If you have been watching me tonight thinking you could do this better than me, you're probably right! Talk to me after the show!"
