OK -- so we are on spring break this week and my DD is having a BUNCH of friends over tonight for movie night.  I though, perfect, I'll try these Tulip Eggs (cute, cute, cute) before my show Sat.  Well, out of a dozen eggs, I don't have one usable egg.  The @#%@ things wouldn't peel!  Do you guys have any fail-proof way to keep that from happening, or is it the eggs?

Thanks!
Sandi

(don't worry, RUFlying stuff will be up SOON! )

When your hard boiled eggs are hard to peel, that's acutally a GOOD Thing...that means they are FRESH eggs!

To combat this problem I add about a tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.  (I just ALWAYS add the salt...just in case)

Perfect hard boiled egg:

1) Put eggs in pan cover with COLD water
2) Add 1 TBSP salt
3) Put on stovetop on HIGH heat for 20 mins.
4) IMMEDIATELY dump out hot water and run COLD water (I usually add lots of ice...to cool it down FAST.

Over cooked eggs will have that grey ring (closest to the egg white) in the yolk.

Ginny -

Thank you so much!   I knew there had to be a trick.  My DD should be back with another dozen eggs (and lots of other junk food) any minute and we'll try your tips.

Sandi, let us know how that works....... I've always used older eggs for that reason.

Just for future reference, my DH puts a tablespoon of vinegar in the water.  Kind of smelly but the shells never stick!
