I looked in the documents and found some great information about ice cream socials and what to make, but I was wondering if anyone is doing this this summer and what you're making and how you're doing it. Thanks for any information you share.

Monica

Monica - I didn't use a particular brand of ice cream.  Just whatever was on sale that week at the grocery store!  I might try one of the Dryer's (?) Slow Churned kind next time.  I don't soften the ice cream before I put it on the stone.  By mixing it with the Handy Scrapers, that softens it enough to mix in the other stuff.

HTH!

I LOVE the Cold Stones at Home. That stuff is so expensive for a family to go out for ice cream, that an AT HOME alternative is a great idea!

I especially think the play on words with Cold STONES vs. Coldstones is cute BUT, in my area Coldstones is not as big as a company called Maggie Moos. They do the same thing where they mix it in front of you.....but I'm afraid if I offer Cold Stones at Home theme shows people won't get it! :-)

I remember the first time I went to Maggie Moos. I had a coupon for buy 1 get 1 free Fresh Escapes (a pre-determined set of Mix-Ins) and it still cost like $10 or $12 for 2 fresh escapes and a single dish for my daughter.

If any of you clever people can think of a cute theme show name using Maggie Moos I'd love to hear it, because I could totally sell people on saving themselves the $20 and doing it at home with left over Easter candy! :-)

Thanks!

I just did my first ice cream social of the season last night, it went well, and is a fast demo with no cooking - I prebaked the brownies in my 9x13 and had hot fudge sauce I nuked in the small BB (guest special), displayed a lot of SA (3 tier stand & Essentials set) to serve all the toppings in, had crushed pineapple (can opener/can strainer), food chopper for nuts, prep bowls, yada yada yada, did a Rice Krispies demo. Sales averaged about $50/person and this was a major repeat crowd who have almost all been to some of my shows in the past 2 months - one former host signed and I have another very strong recruit lead. I'm very pleased with the way the IC social went!

To show cookware you can use either the Spiced Apple Stir-Fry or the Banana's Foster recipe.  I have included them attached to here.  The banana's foster recipe isn't PC it is a true Nawlings recipe that I got from one of the directors in the area.
To show the USG and a Quickstir pitcher take 2 lemons and a cup of sugar and make lemonaid.  Quick, easy, fresh and good.  Just make sure you get really firm lemons.
now if anyone has an outline/timeline of how you do this let me know.  I did one the other day and I always feel like I am all over the place.  I need order.

Tiffany,

I do my introduction/recruiting first,
Current &upcoming host specials
Guest special
Simple Additions
then I do the brownies/stoneware,
Rice krispie/cookware demo,
Peanuts/food chopper & cutting board
then crushed pineapple/smooth edge can opener (I sell TONS of these!)
Corer/Egg Slicer (strawberries)
EAD - cool whip
Small batter bowl (guest special)- nuke hot fudge sauce

It's fast & easy, under an hour show & lots of fun - I think I am going to add the 1-2-3 Lemonade demo so I can work in the USG & FSQSP (thanks for the idea, Tiffany!)

the one thing that really helps my shows is I do the same show all month long, and I set up my table the same way each time - this way I'm not searching for tools or ingredients.  If you keep it the same within 2 or 3 shows you will be able to do it in your sleep.

HTH, have fun with it!

Leisa

Leisa,
Thanks for the outline.  I was supposed to do my second ICS tonight but didn't really have any guests to do it for.
I think I miss quoted the lemonaid.  I think it is 4 lemons and a cup of sugar.  I may have said 2.

There was a question as to what the Cold Stone show was. Just bringing this to the front of the list again.
