Michelle, funny ideas you have.
How about, you when we say bring a friend get a prize.
Instead, we give the prize to the friend for coming???

I looked up the pie recipe last night, (Stoneware Sensation p 83), dreamed of it all night, and think I will probably try it TODAY .  It's the perfect recipe for this!

I am so excited for this show -- keep the ideas coming!

I t would try to do things backwards, in your demo. Too bad I work that day at the office, or I would want to have a show. Maybe, I could do April Fools, email sale. Will need to think about that.

What about doing a food demo for one of those types of foods that look like one thing but taste like another?  I think in an old Quick Cooking magazine I remember a dish that was a cake that looked like a cheeseburger or something like that?  Anyone know what I'm talking about?  I think that would be fun.

But I DO like the idea of the guests giving US a gift if they bring a friend!

I saw several April Fool's Day recipes in the Family Fun Magazine - they have a web page too. Let me know if you need more info - some were great!  Laura

I got this idea from Family Fun a few years ago. Cup cakes for super only there not cupcakes it is meatloaf in the shape of a cupcake with mashed potatos for frosting . Just add food coloring to your potatos so you could have different colored frostings on your cupcakes. They look sooo real it gets them everytime. Dawn

Family Fun has lots of great ideas!  Here is the link to the food part -- there's lots of other ideas, too.  http://familyfun.go.com/recipes/family/specialfeature/aprilfools-food-pranks-ms/

This original message came up a couple of weeks ago but I booked an April Fools show this morning and was wondering if anyone came up with any other ideas.  My host is very excited about the whole thing.

Ok, I've been thinking, I'm going to do this as a Mystery Host show on Saturday the 2nd.  I think I'll start off by saying Thank you all for coming today, I'll be glad to take your orders now!  Then say April Fools!  Either that or I'll start off with  my back turned to them and thank them all for coming, start to introduce myself and then turn around.  Definately wearing my apron backwards!

Have guests introduce themselves starting with their last name first? Or even funnier have them attempt to say their first name backwards!

Then I'll ask if anyone would volunteer to help me with the demo today.  After they come up I'll go sit in their chair and wait a couple seconds...then go up and help!

I think I'll make the Upside Down Caramel Apple Pie ahead but assemble another for the demo.  Any other recipe suggestions?

At the end I want to say something like...Today I'm giving away $350 worth of products for $90!  No kidding this time!  If you are interested in doing what I do....

Oh yeah and the door prizes will go to the losers...and if you bring a friend the friend gets the gift!

Tickets for: RSVP, bring a friend, bring an oustide order, place an order, book a show, share a trick in the kitchen, wear your clothing backwards.

Any suggestions?  Over the top?  I want to keep it light, but keep the demo serious.
Michelle

Ok, I just dug this info up from one of my email folders looking for something else. It came from waaaay back in March of 2002 from another group I'm on. I cleaned it up a bit for you. I left the names to give credit where credit was due.
Enjoy!
Marian

Here are some APRIL FOOL'S DAY SHOW IDEAS 4 YOU:

Fruity Hot Dog!
Put banana in a hot dog bun. Cut off ends of banana to fit the roll.
Mix 2T peanut butter (NOT CRUNCHY) w/ a couple drops of red food coloring.
Spread over banana. Mix a little drained vanilla yogurt w/yellow food coloring for "mustard". Drizzle over "hot dog".

Yolks on You Fried Egg and Toast (dessert):
Spread thin layer of vanilla pudding on plate to look like an egg white. Top w/a canned peach half to resemble a yolk. Serve w/cinnamon-toast triangles.

Pizza Pie in the Sky:
For the pizza cookies- slice cookie dough to circles. Cut fruit rolls into 36 circles the same size as dough slices. Top each cookie w/fruit roll circle.
Bake 7 min at 350 or until golden. remove from oven, immediately sprinkle w/about 1 tsp chopped white choc chips. spread slightly so they melt and look like cheese. sprinkle w/dried mint if desired. :)

Start out the demo by telling everyone you are going to make something that will gross them out. I can't think of something right off the top of my head, but be all excited about this new recipe "Tuna and Brussel Sprout Frittata" or something else that sounds gross. Make a game out of it, you could even have some scary looking ingredients handy. After they look really scared and you tell them "April Fool" tell them that anytime during the demo that they catch you "fooling" the person who catches you will get something. You can either do a thing where they get a sticker or something and then the one with the most gets a prize like a SBRC or you could just throw candy to the person as they catch you. I don't know is there some kind of April Fool appropriate candy? If not just use kisses. You could complain about having to deliver products--April Fool! You could say how you really hate the fact that you and your family are always taste testing new recipes--April Fool! You could say that you can never chop an onion without crying--April Fool! (Food Chopper)
Maybe joke about how nice it is that the hostess does the dishes for you, she will definitely be calling April Fool on that one.

You get the idea. I have never done this, but it might be fun, if your hostess is into it. Some people do not like to play games, so make sure she likes the idea.

Kathy Bochonko

A few things come to mind.  You could give out coupons or points to be redeemed at the end of the show.  Your audience would really have to listen and write down as many things as they could that were wrong!

1.    Calling a product by a wrong name.

2.    Do your show barefoot or with one shoe off and one shoe on.

3.    Wear your shirt backwards

4.    Begin with dessert

5.    Call your hostess by the wrong name

6.    Wear a hat

7.    Wear two aprons

8.    Have you hostess in her PJ's

9.    Tell people you don't want to hear any one saying they want to have a show.

10.  Tell people you hate this job

11.   The money sucks

12.   You don't need the extra money you just like to mess up other peoples kitchens

Get the idea!
