This week has been beautiful!  It's been a much needed break from the cold and dreary weather we've had so far this spring.  I've been feeling better so yesterday we went out and planted a few phlox and I weeded all day today.  I'm not a gardener by any means, but I'm willing to try and I can definately pull weeds!  The kids have been loving pulling weeds or digging in the dirt as well.  It's been a much needed break for them also to just be able to go outside.  So it got me to thinking about this week's challenge.  I have weeds in my garden that are hindering the growth of my flowers.  But I also have "weeds" in my office that are hindering the growth of my business!

Your PC Gardening Challenge is to "pull out the weeds" in your office!  We're going to remove the things from our desks and offices/work area that are hindering the growth of our businesses.  For each of us it will be different.  Maybe you have kids toys around your desk, maybe you have a cup or a plate still sitting there from lunch, maybe it's a pile of bills that need to be shredded....whatever it may be...get them out of your way!  We'll focus better when our business area is free from other things that distract us.  It always surprises me how many things around my desk and work space really don't belong there!

I CHALLENGE you to remove 10 "weeds" from your work space.  Then post the 10 things you got rid of!

Ok...so here's my 10

1.  Bottle of lotion
2.  Screwdriver
3.  Packing tape
4.  Hair scrunchie
5.  Empty plastic cup my little one found and brought me about a month ago!
6.  Unused but somehow torn up tissues
7.  Several pieces of trash
8.  A viewmaster (those things with the circular picture slides for kids)
9.  A broken necklace
10. A Halloween spider ring!

Where did some of this stuff come from?  lol!  So that was only slightly embarrassing...who's next?

This was a great idea!  I cleaned my desk yesterday, but I still need to work on the area around my desk.
Here's my list:
1. A microscope that been there for 8 years!
2. Fuzzy, green slipper socks
3. Tax return
4. I put the loose sheets of colored paper where they belong.
5. My son's ACT admission ticket from 2006!
6.  Old notes and junk receipts.
7. A really tasty salsa recipe -  I taped that to the fridge.

I'm sure I'll add more when I get to the floor...

Well, as my "office" is in my kitchen (I have a laptop that I park on the end of the countertop, down from the sink) I am constantly cleaning. At least it seems that way. But today for some reason I felt the urge to clean out the junk drawer. It was time. I had been wanting to do it for a while. So I don't know that it really counts for my business, but now all the pens are in one place, paperclips have a home, rubber bands have a home, and so on. My hubby was impressed with my work; he wasn't expecting that to be done. I have another drawer I'd like to tackle tomorrow, but it's twice the size of the drawer today.

And because my "office" is in my kitchen I'm always organizing and straightening my PC papers and things to make room for lunch prep or dinner prep or just making it look decent when the in-laws drop by (which they do because they only live less than 5 minutes from us!)

Currently, things that need to go from the countertop are
1. toy flashlight
2. husband's golf tee
3. scholastic payment envelope
4. torn piece of cardboard box
5. recipe and notes from most recent cluster
6. coupons to gymboree

It will get done, but probably tomorrow; I'm going to bed now!
