This may sound simple, but this week your challenge is to NOT go through the drive through.  That means if you’re going to McDonald’s go inside instead of the drive through.  By going inside you can take a minute to connect with someone either in the lobby or at the counter.  Lobby’s can be busy places full of people.  Lots of opportunities lie within!  But don’t just go inside…bring along a catalog.  You don’t have to shove it in someone’s face if you’re not comfortable with that.  Just set it beside you as you order.  Maybe you’ll get a question…maybe not.  But you’ve opened yourself up to the possibility!  Take your kids to the Playplace and browse through your catalog or bring along some PC busywork.  There just may be a mother needing extra income or time away from kids with adults!  I challenge you to step outside your comfort zone and strike up a conversation.  See where it leads you!

Other places I challenge you to go inside instead of the drive through?/P>

Your bank.  Go inside and talk to a teller face to face.  Show them a catalog.  If you’re brave enough see if they’d be interested in passing the catalog around the office!

Your Pharmacy.  Your pharmacist takes time to explain your prescription, return the favor!

The Post Office.  Sure you can just drop the envelopes in the box, but why not take them to the window?  Have a catalog in your hand in plain sight.  Talk to the postal worker.  Don’t have anything you NEED postage for…spend the extra 41 cents and buy just <st1:stockticker>ONE</st1:stockticker> stamp.  41 cents may get you a booking!  You never know!

Have another place you usually drive through?  Go inside!  Wear a PC shirt, bring a catalog or something that lets them see you sell PC.  And don’t forget to let us know where you went this week and if anything came from doing it.

Wahoo, I did this challenge today withOUT checking in here first to see what the Challenge of the Week was going to be for the week!! I went to the PO today to mail off a hostess' receipts envelope & the PO worker noticed that my mailing & return addy labels said PC on them. She actually struck up the convo first by saying "Ah, PC! I bet your business is doing pretty good these days." To which I replied, "ya, it IS ESP since more & more ppl are cutting costs & eating at home nowadays....it's so much cheaper to eat at home ya know." To which she replied, "ya & it's better for you, too." "Yep it sure is...." I said in response. Then I asked her if she'd like to see a catalog (I had one in my van but forgot to bring one in with me!!), to which she surprisingly said "oh, no thanks." Man, just when I thought I cinched "the deal". Oh well, it's not like I've not tried to share PC with her B4 cuz I have. She's just a "tough cookie" to reach that's all. I'm hoping ONE DAY she'll say "YES"!!

Oh! And I DID bring a cattie along with me to the mall this afternoon when I got my PC PWS & phone addy decal made.  But no takers there either....Well, at least I'm headed in the right direction. Next time I'm taking a PC shopping bag filled with some catties to stroll along with & hopefully someone will come up to me asking me where the PC store is?! To which I'll just reply "you're looking at it!!" LOL

Thanks, Michelle....I'm on a roll now!! LOL

Marian,

Again, I loved your post here! I love that you followed through with the conversation instead of letting it die, which is what I usually end up doing. I don't have the guts to get out of my comfort zone and JUST ASK!!!!!

That's a great one-liner! "You're looking at it!" I want to remember that one.

I was in a check out line at walmart not too long ago and they were doing midnight cash drawer changes. (Yes I was at walmart at midnight, but only cuz I could go and not have to take the kids!) There was a well-to-do looking 50-something woman in line behind me and we must have stood there 5-10 minutes or so waiting on the change to finish and I had my new Season's Best lying on the seat in the cart. I wanted to have the courage to say something but it just never happened. She seemed in a real hurry, too, so maybe that was part of why I didn't say anthing. (Maybe that's my excuse!) But afterward, I just kept replaying the scenario in my head and thought of all the things I could have said to get the conversation rolling. Now I'm ready for next time.

WOW!!! I totally did the opposite of this.  I just ordered stamps online and paid an extra $1 in shipping to have them come to my house.

You are so right.  I could have just missed my next booking.

Went to the Post office to mail some packets and check our mailbox.  Talked with a possible male recruit!  Thanks to my car signs!

He is retired, loves to cook & gab.  He said 2 stores are trying to hire him.  Dropping off packet of info at his house this afternoon.  Interested in doing a wine and cheese party this fall because he is remodling house.

I always carry my PC catalog purse around and while  is on vacation in Las Vegas for a family emergency (IN THE HOSPITAL WAITING ROOM) had someone interested in signing up. She know she wanted to get involved in something but was not sure want. Now back home went to a friends kids birthday party and without have to start a converation about PC the bag does it for you. So for those of you who don't feel comfortable talking to strangers about it. Sometimes just having your bag or shirt saying PC - you have them approaching you.
