Asteroid may have destroyed Biblical cities?

Tale of devastation

"Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of Heaven; and he overthrew those cities and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities ... [Abraham] looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and toward all the land of the valley, and beheld, and lo, the smoke of the land went up like the smoke of a furnace."

{ So.....maybe if Sodom and Gomorrah really existed perhaps they were destroyed by a not so uncommon celestial event rather then the spiteful hand of a wrathful God? Throughout most of human history we have attributed events we can not understand to the work of "gods". Science sheds light on the darkness and the truth unfolds. What do you think?}

You don't think the hand of God could have caused the event?

Nose....

I saw a History Channel special that theorizes two cities found were Sodom and Gomorrah and that after doing some excavating, remains of bodies were found in positions that show they were active doing a variety of tyhings at the time of death....as if death was totally unexpected and quick.

Frankly, I believe it. I have believed for years that science each day proves more and more that the Bible is an excellent historical document as well as a standard to live one's life.

One other thing......

Brimstone and fire could certainly be a good descriptiuon of comet. If God made the Heavens and the Earth, he most certainly could have sent the comet. One is not necesarily exclusive of the other.
