Ohio Students Bring Bibles to Class to Support Teacher

MOUNT VERNON, Ohio ?nbsp; A school superintendent says some students at the district's middle school brought Bibles to classes to show support for a teacher who refuses to remove his Bible from the view of students.

Mount Vernon Superintendent Stephen Short says Friday's action hasn't caused any major disruption.

Teacher John Freshwater says forcing him to keep his Bible out of sight infringes on his rights.

Some students at the central Ohio school also wore homemade T-shirts with crosses and the message, "I support Fresh H20."

School officials say they are required by the US Constitution not to promote or favor any set of religious beliefs.

Short says he hopes the issue can be resolved amicably.

{ I know one way to settle this. FIRE him! Let him find a job as a teacher in a religious school. These arrogant Bible pushers don't care about their students, their education or the separation of church and state. Not when they are pushing a religious agenda. They are doing everyone involved a disservice. Public schools are not there for religious indoctrination but for education. If you must peddle religion then get out of the system. The children who supported their teacher are admiral but if push comes to shove they should join their teacher and go elsewhere. There are no shortage of religious schools in America. They MUST keep their religion out of our public school system. No "if's, ands or buts"! Play by the rules or get out!

What do you think?}

What is it with you that makes you so intolerant of the religion of others?
