someone said to me as of late that we have exactly the type of government we deserve, i believe that statement is profoundly correct.

we are without a doubt a nation of liars and distorters bent on some halofassed perception that we have any type of control on the directions this country takes.  we have no government of by the people for the people, we are infested with antiamericanism, we are polluted inexorably with factions in this country bent upon this countries destruction, and we the people are so obsessed with creature comforts, we would give it all away in a breath to catch the smallest of bones.

i just dont recognize what this country has become, its people weak and sniveling, haters of truth, devoid of any moral sense of right and wrong, and worst of all, devoid of the guts and courage it requires to remain a free people.

whilst we move ever closer to totalatarianism, and possibly a form of fascism, we the people are rapt with the lies and distortions of this political campaign, caught up like mindless idiots watching a soap opera, or maury or jerry springer.  we are not interested in a fix, we are only interested in change, any change at any and all costs.  god help us, its gone.  jerry

I disagree with you on some of this, Jerry.
Most of us know that what is here, and what is going to come, is not going to be fixed easily. It is going to take work and cutting back on some creature comforts to get out of this.
During the 2006 election, we at least headed in the right direction by voting a lot of the incumbents out of a job. We believed the ones that we put into their places would be the leaders we were looking for; and there is nothing wrong with that. They lied to us and so now we have to vote them out. Send every incumbent that voted for that stupid bailout packing.
After 8 years of the current administration, should we be a bit more discerning in choosing who we put into office? Yes; however, we are limited in our choices. I would like to see the option of "None of the above" on every ballot. And if there is a majority of U.S. citizens choosing "None of the above", then the current candidates are kicked to the curb and new ones chosen.
We are a nation of workers and the leadership in the last 12 years has taken that away from us. Yes, it has been by a planned course to let some get power and become powerful. If anyone is naive enough to think that the condition the nation is in now is by accident, then they need to be back in Pampers.
We do have the guts and courage it takes to get this nation back on track again. There are other candidates and parties to choose from. http://www.votesmart.org/election_president_search.php?type=alpha
