Hey if you try to call and don´t get me for some reason don´t panic.  There is some kind of tropical storm over us that is about to drive me nuts...it has rained for two days and they are predicting three more days of solid rain..the river is already full that runs close to the house.    Anyhow, the internet service has been sporadic and it has been taking me a bit to post this evening.  The company suspended loads into and out of Puerto Cortes this morning so everything is at a standstill...school has been cancelled as well.. I don´t think it is going to be serious but because our electric is still above ground and I have all electronic crap...it is likely that it will go out...and I will have no service for a day or two or only intermittently at best...I just wanted to let you know...
(side note do not worry about the river, it might wash away some of the houses close to the banks, but they aren´t supposed to be there anyway so that might be a good thing...the people have already been forcably evacuated.  However, up in the neighborhood it has never flooded.  So don´t worry about us we will be fine, just a little soggy is all.)

OMG!  Sorry Summer I just saw this.  I usually just look at the title on the first 5 or 6 threads.

I saw where you posted on my thread here, so I assume all is OK.

Hey STX, I hope your family is doing fine...I will keep you in my prayers...we weathered it ok...just a little wet..no flooding in the house though...the lower areas of our neighborhood did flood, but we didn´t thank goodness..however others weren´t so lucky...

The toll is 20 dead, 40% of the roadways are so badly damged they are impassable, a good bit of the agricultural industry has taken a hard hit.  I don´t know how bad the Banana plantations have been hit, we will know tomorrow afternoon so I will be at the truck yard tomorrow and probably going to see how bad the damage is to figure out what next.  Your bananas will probably get mighty expensive for a few months.
16 out of 18 departments in the country (departments are like mini states) are badly affected...San Pedro Sula and the entire department of Cortes is still under red alert.  Though it didn´t rain all day...I was so glad to see the sun for the first time in days...though the rain clouds still threatened but didn´t rain at all today...I think the worst is over.  Evidently a cold front came out of the US and pushed downward and the storm got stuck overhead and it rained and rained and rained...and.....rained..

Here is an English language newspaper that is covering the floods...evidently it is going to rain again tomorrow, Sat, and Sun....
