last night i watched a pretty darned good, but disturbing movie, in the valley of elah, based upon a true story  but of course names changed and locations.  its about iraqi vets, and the insanity that they brought home with themi may be wrong but i dont recall the intensity of sickness of the soul after nam, by the nam vets, this story demonstrates a savagery i have only felt in battle, but never carried over into civilian life.  its worth a look at, something is very wrong this time around.  jerry

I can't watch anything like that anymore.  The last 2 pics like that I saw were devastating for me. They were Tears of the Sun and Black Hawk Down. I think there were quite a few Nam Vets who came home with splintered spirits. For more than a few of them that I know, the drugs were about the only thing that had them walking around. The word savagery doesn't begin to describe what takes place but I can't think of another word that would.
I have always found it so hypocritical that many people will say they are anti-abortion; and yet expect a mother to willingly send her child off to such ghastly places. I am so deeply grateful for those who have to go into that situation.

Blessed be
