there are im afraid many forms of the truth..
Last summer when I finally met Ed Whitten, I asked him if music had inspiration or influence in his attitude that lead to his String Theory and Super String Theory. Answer is yes. That is another story, for another time.
But when other physicists began to poke some holes in the original string theory, and it appeared maybe the theory wasn't as solid, or revolutionary as thought, Whitten demonstrated that differences in observation of string resonances didn't mean the theory was dead, or flawed. He showed that the concept of strings was simply approached from several difference perspectives, and thus, all described the same phenomena, but in different ways, and from the different perspectives. The observation of differences instead of tearing the theory apart, reinforced and solidified it with greater strength, because of the changes of shape in energy string loops in resonant oscillation.
That is exactly how you qualified truth in the statement above. The many forms are really of one truth, viewed from different perspectives. We have different words for them, different religions in which to have faith in what we can't see, and words fail to describe. The arrows and signs all point the same direction, from the beginning of the universe, to the cyclic end. We see only a tiny fraction.
Very cool, Jerry, Malik and Bill. Very cool!
