HELP - on Finding Former Friends
One of the main points of this web site is to find former friends. The following section is dedicated to showing you the best way to find these former friends on this web site:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
However, before I continue, it pains me to have to say this - but there are members of this web site that complain about not being able to find their mates on this web site. However closer inspection of these “complainers? show them to be all but ghosts themselves.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are examples of 2 members ?see if you can tell who stands the best chance of finding their mates - let me introduce Messieurs “Deranger?and “Figroll?
Both “Figroll?and “Deranger?have rather arbitrary ?FONT color=#009900>Member Names?(see Label 1) which is fine - as long as these members go onto give their real names in their ?FONT color=#009933>Member Profiles?(see Label 3) ie Deranger confesses to being Rick Joshua. In fact Rick goes onto to tell us a little about himself including the years he was a Quantock - very useful in placing people. Finally, Rick gives his email address (see Label 2), however “Figroll?decides to go undercover, and does not allow his email address to be shown. I guess this is fine BUT what’s the point of being a member of this site if your mates can’t even email you! Personally I find members like “Figroll?a waste of sever space.
So please, please, please take the time to fix your ?FONT color=#009933>Member Profiles
?(
info). Also add yourself to the "
Graduation Databases" (
info) again maximize your exposure on this web site in order to better find your former friends.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK now that the above has been said, we can continue.
The best place to start your search is to go to the ?A target=_top href="http://communities.msn.com/QuantockSchoololdBoyzandGirls/atozofmembers.msnw" title="Members listed A to Z (by last name)">A to Z of Members List? were all members are listed alphabetically by Sur name,
There was an old system but it was too time consuming to run - but if you're wondering this is how it used to work:
If you’re trying to find a specific person, simply trawl through the list by clicking the “next?button till you see the person you are after. To find more information about this person, simply click on the links to either their “Member Profiles?or a link to a the relevant “Graduation Database?
The great thing about this List (or any List on this web site) is that the data can be sorted by clicking the Column Headings.
For example the ?A target=_top href="http://communities.msn.com/QuantockSchoololdBoyzandGirls/atozofmembers.msnw" title="Members listed A to Z (by last name)">A to Z of Members List? initially lists members alphabetically (see above), but by clicking the “Name (Sur, First)?Column Heading (see red arrow above) the list will be sorted anti-alphabetically and will look like it does below. By clicking this Column Heading again, the order will be reversed back to how it was initially (give it a try ?but read on first!!)
However, one of the best ways to find all your former Classmates all at the same time, is to sort the data by “Class Of Year? That is click on the “Class Of?Column Heading (e.g. red arrow below). This will sort the data by “Class Of Year?starting with the lowest number - in this case class of ?0?then working its way to the 60’s and finishing with the 90’s folk - see pic below for example.
Clicking again on the ”Class Of?Column heading will reverse the order i.e. starting with the Class of ?9 ?see below:
I hope this was useful,
Mike
