(Copied and pasted, addendum added)

Dear All,

As part of my own research both for my own interest and for the up-and-coming history of Quantock School, I have scoured the web for information. As a result I have obtained parliamentary discussions on Quantock School (whose main 'enemy' appeared to be David Jamieson, MP for Plymouth Devonport).

I can only assume that this official line came from complaints from worried parents - might anyone know anything? I also managed to get hold of the GCSE and A-level (!) results for the Somerset LEA, and have spoken to OFSTED this afternoon requesting a copy of their damning report on standards at Quantock.

My personal Quantock sub-website, which will be available on my wonderfully varied homepage, is almost complete, and is due for upload around May 1, maybe sooner. It contains a brief (and somewhat scathing) history of the school, quotes from the first and last Quantock School Magazine (unless there was another after I left in 1987, which I doubt) a tongue-in-cheek review of the bizarre Victorian prose of the 1981 prospectus and a look at the 1994 edition (I have copies of both), and a short history of my life at the school among other things.

Can anyone put names to the 'unknowns' in the photo I sent...?

Rick

PS. In response to the request for the identity of the 'unknowns' in the photo, yes I do recall Matthew Bowen - tell me, was he one of those who 'took over' the snooker table in the later years? I would assume this as he was always one of those jubs who kept plaguing us for a game. And the unknown head is almost certainly Alan Gray (or 'Aran Glay') - as he was another one of the baize brigade...

From:Jim (moved by Mike) Sent:4/25/2000 7:37 pm Rick, I recognise Unknown 2 as a certain Matthew Bowen and Unknown 3 as a possible Alan Gray. You'll have to give me more time on the first however. Jim P.S. You're looking good!
