I live in northern CA, about 2 hours by car north of our capitol, Sacramento. We live in a small town of about 3,000 on a good day and 15 miles away from the nearest town of Red Bluff. We have 10 acres of rolling hills with over 300 oak and manzanita trees and shrubs.
We named our property Serendipity's Hill in honor of our dog, Serendipity, who is known as Dippy.
We have lots of wildlife that come to our property: wild turkeys love the bird feeders, along with gold finches, woodpeckers, titmice and nuthatches. I love listening to the magpies squawk every afternoon when they hold their meetings. One day while looking out the kitchen window, I saw a group (herd?) of wild boars running as fast as they could down our driveway. I had no idea pigs could run that fast, lol.
We have a wonderful view of Mt Lassen which is snow covered all year. We are two hours from Mt Shasta which is beautiful and good for skiing in the winter. In the summer here, it gets as hot as 117degrees F. It isn't as bad as it sounds since it is very dry here, which makes the heat more bearable. We moved here about 8 years ago and love country living.
