Hi Darryn,
An Item for you next newsletter. I had to go to the Sharpe Shoppe here in Sherwood Park recently, obviously to get some things sharpened. While there, I found that, in the back of the shop was a warehouse full of hardwoods. Walter Mailman has a brother in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia who has a saw mill and Walter is bringing in hardwoods from that sawmill in copious quantities. Hi son Jon is running the store and they are both very amiable and helpfull people. Right now, they also have 500 ft of beautiful Pine that they brought in for a customer who didn't want it when it got here. I picked up a couple of boards about 15 - 18 inches wide by 8 feet and there is a knot in one and nothing in the other. Just beautiful clear Pine. Of course it's all rough and has to be planed but the price is right and, as I said, the quantities copious. I hope we can get lots of people out supporting them so they are able to make a living and keep it up. They have a small section of what they call shorts which they are practically giving away. They are actually long pieces they have cut off from larger pieces and plenty good, in fact, perfect for scrollers. You will want to check it out and pass the word on through your newsletter. When you go there, mention my name so they will know that I am keeping my promise to get the word out about them. Take care.
