The good thing about kids is they all grow up and if you're lucky start sprouting credit cards and if you're even luckier they send some of it your way, so the other evening this crumbly ( as my 3 love to call anything over 40) got taken to Shakespeare's Globe in London for a dose of Midsummer Nights Dream.  and what a place! - a giant thatched ring open to the skies, it feels absolutely authentic- which it is - even the timber was prepared the Elizabethan way, and you are standing up throughout if you're a groundling...or - as most people -sitting on circular wooden benches.  It felt like a huge16th century party, like everyone had suddenly turned into a bunch of tudor theatre-life.  Everyone was up for it, there was a feeling of cheerful, if slightly rogueish anticipation.  The actors had this great communcation with the audience and got some really excellent improvision going here and there without ever losing the character of the Bard; was the best Shakie production I've ever seen.   And what a fantastic night !

I could only get pix before the production started, but at least this gives an idea of how the theatre looks, for those who don't know

lol well I left school too early for that stuff & fell in love with Bill the Bard a few years later   - couldn't get enough of him after that

Someone once said that speaking Shakespeare's lines was like having a mouthful of jewels.. I think I agree..

I love Shakespeare's poetry. He wrote beautiful words that I wish I could write. I hope one day to be near to his level of writing talent, because I could never replace him [obviously].
