Some of us have, in our lives, moved from the country to the city. I was one of those so many years ago. The sounds we hear in the city at night, are so much different, than the peace of the country, as I'm sure many will agree. As I sit here typing this out, I am able to hear, many less cars, passing on the normally busy street I live on. Once in awhile, I will hear a ship sounding its horn, to signal a direction, it has plans to travel in, but normally dont hear that sound after the sun sets. During the early evening more than before, I hear the emergency vehicles, whether it be a Fire Truck or an Ambulance rushing off to save a home or an individual in need of assistance. On a Friday night, I can hear ppl coming back from their favourite pub, most laughing and happy, but a few, that appear alone, some verbally allowing the neighbourhood to know it, in their alcoholic state. Tonight, I heard, for the first time, not a sound, I would like to hear again in this area. As I was working on my pc, I heard in the distance, a blood curdling scream, and from the sound of it, the female, didnt scream just once, but at least 6 times. One wonders why she was so fearful, as the mind does wonder in so many different directions. I'd much rather hear, the not so aggressive sound of a few vehicles passing in the night. |

Then, even in the middle of the night, I hear a siren. It would appear it is from a Police car, and it is in much of a hurry to get to it's destination. Again, the mind wanders. For the last couple of hours, I have heard someone, trying in vein, to start his vehicle. Seems he comes out about every 30 minutes and tries again, but this time, not starting it, I hear the car door slamming shut. No, it is possible, from the sound, as well as a loud voice, expressing a great deal of disappointment, cannot get his door shut, and tries over and over again. It appears he is loosing his patience. Ah, now it is quiet again. The mind wanders once more. |

Poor fella, trying again to start the car, but it appears, that the battery is slowly being completely drained. Went to the window, to have a look. Heard a few four letter words as he took his flashlight, opened the hood, and am still awaiting to see, if he tries again. Ooops, four letter words and a slamming door. Cant this fellow call for a friend to come and give him a "jump?" Sounds like he desperately needs some, hopefully affordable mechanical work done on his vehicle. I wish him luck, as I continue here on the pc. |
