I would like to suggest that people do not post poems on top of poems in poets cornered. We are all guilty of it but it does tend to hi-jack the thread and in my 'umble opinion is a bit rude. It forces you to comment where you might not of - or worse still, not comment where you would have. Many times poetry threads end with someone elses work.
As i said we all have done it probably, there's no specific culprit. I just thought I should mention it.
Comments welcomed - thankyou.
DEAN

I'm afraid I don't agree entirely with these views.

If a poem is posted in a poem topic, in poets cornered, in response to another poem, it is in the right place and should be there, to be read as part of ther same topic and theme and as part of the same poetical conversation.

It doesn't hijack the thread any more than someone posting more funnies in a funny thread, more arguments in an argument thread or more pictures in a picture thread.

If the poem is completely off topic, then fine, start a new topic, but if its part of the existing thread and related to it, stick it in there. There is nothing sacred ort hallowed about a poem, any more than a picture, a comment or a joke.

I suppose I'd better post my comments in poets corner as well now and follow Ocker's lead!!

Well i completely with Ginger nut's coments  if i feel your poem has inspired me to write, why put it on another thread? i do not wish to detract from your work, only to exemlify , expand, with your train of thought! I think we will loose the kindred spirit in this way !however! i'm easly goingand will fall in with your wishes.

O.K. if you were to post in "what I wrote" and then someone put another story on yours that wouldn't be wrong ?  Why not just give credit to being inspired in your new thread if someone has triggered your creative juices ? Also how is someone to know that there is a new work to read if it's hidden on another thread ?

i agree with what dean has said. i did notice that there are poems written in amongst replies to poems (not always associated with the original). which is a shame. coz, if you are not interested in reading other peoples replies and just wanna give your comment, you wont see the poems that have been stuck in here and there... and the poets wont have thier poems read or appriciated. so, if you want to take credit for your poem and have it commented on, you are best to do it on your own thread. but if it is a reply to the original in form of a poem, i dont see why you shouldnt put it in there. we dont have to reply to peoples replies after all.
but, it doesnt just happen in here. i am getting confused with the 'ALL ME OWN WORK' threads! if you want to keep track of an artists posts u have to search through all the msgs to find them. they are scattered about all over. it would be good if each artist had their own thread...would be so much easier to view and keep tabs.

I agree with Ocker, Gingernut and Baldric.

I may be too new for my opinion to hold water, but I like to have comments
made poeticly, (or not.) Whatever should move you.

I feel it enhances the original, not detract from it, and makes it more fun,
as Baldric has already said.

I will follow the leader, however.

Hello All, BTW.

Well
It seems that when, Individuals make comments, they are often referringing to said topics, and that's okl  It'.s a segway to the topic . sometimes it's necessarty to give that, o,f course not plag,

I am not sure which one I agree to. I understand where Dean is coming from. But I know sometimes people respond to a poem with another poem. Earth has done this to some of mine. Which I do not mind, because it means he has read what I have written and it somehow inspired him to write his own. Maybe alot of ppl read them but I find most do not respond (well to mine anyways ). Ok, there's my two cents or for you lot over there, two pence

I have to agree with Ginger. There are times when Ive read a poetic thread, and am inspired to reply to it or expand it from my point of view. The words just come from the reaction to the poetic creation. I would not be insulted if anyone was inspired to write under mine. I believe it is a f form of appreciation for the original artist, but each to his own eh

I admit I am guilty of posting a poem on top of another. I hadn't realised it was so annoying! So, thanx for your point of views. I have taken them under great consideration.

It happened to me today, its annoyin in ways if you have a serious poem and then some one ads a piss takin joke poem it can in words hurt. its just to do with respect. sometimes its acceptable but sometimes its below the belt.
Mike.

Have to agree, particularly if it is a poem that someone has written from the heart... I do tend to post a lot of poems by famous authors so I guess its okay to post anything in response that.  But for serious poems by people, well perhaps careful consideration may be in order...

Again, each has their own opinion, and I have many times, been very inspired, after reading a member's poem to write one of my own, but normally keep the subject on track. Keep it on track I think is a priority.

Hey, was a decision made on this, 'cause I'm new here and I've only gone and done it already in creative writing. I didn't intend to but I related to the piece so added to it, posting a comment which ended up a poem..... I suppose it should have gone in poems... Don't tell me I've been BAAAAD already.
Can anyone clarify?

Hiya Calhoon its either way lol

Some like it some don't but don't stop posting your poems.

This thread was started by an ex member who is never online now and I guess it was just how the members were feeling at that time.  Most of them like to see they have inspired someone with their poetry.

Thanks for answering my call, Iced, did wonder if I would get one, seeing that the last posting was back in Jan. Thanks again.
