Hi, hey I wondered why when I clicked on 'chat' it says my name can't be used. It then asks if I want to change my name, but when I say ok, nothing happens. I already have another name I use for live chatting, but I am new to this and wondered if there was some incredibly simple answer to this wee prob. thanks, the Leaf.

I think the problem is the character / . Try going to Member Tools and changing you name to Light _Skeleton_ Leaf or LightSkeletonLeaf or just Leaf.

Any other tecchy types got any ideas ?

yep Ocker you are correct, it is the backslash. Leaf, drop the backslash, and use an underscore or similar.

To change your name now, if you haven t already figured it out, simply open any of these pages, and providing you have signed into your hotmail/msn passport, click on your name (above right) then 'edit my profile'

I had a similar problem once, trying to change my name for a chat, one night. I think it is MSN being a little more strict to how they used to be, another example is my name. It was actually typed with alt-0160 spaces(ie allowing the spaces to be shown, as well as my full name in an MSN chat room, whereas it would only show Carrot, if the space bar was used). Alt-0160 doesn t appear to work any longer (hope that made sense lol)
