** GETTING PASSIONATE ABOUT ZOOS **
We got in touch with some of the winners of our Zoo Tycoon and Marine Mania competition to hear how they're enjoying the zoo-building game. It seems it's addictive! Dave from Southampton tells us that his wife 'has spent many (many) hours building zoos and emptying bank accounts'. He adds: 'It really does appear to be a great game and I for one welcome the peace and quiet that has descended over the house.' Gordon Fotheringham of Kingoodie near Dundee says: 'My 11 year old son and 7 year old daughter both love playing it.' Colin Harris from Gillingham comments: 'We like the intelligence and realism of the animals. Put a lion in the giraffe pen and what you expect to happen occurs. Make the fences too low and the animals escape. My step-daughter can spend the whole weekend on it!'

Hollywood - and the world's cameras - are gearing up for the annual Oscar awards on 23 March, when all eyes will be on the lucky recipients of those celebrated gold statuettes. But who have been the most famous losers? Encarta, the world's number one multimedia encyclopedia, has come up with a surprising list of movie legends and brilliant directors who've lost out on Oscar night. A couple of clues: the world's most curvaceous blonde and a director who loved making cameo appearances. Read the article to discover the astonishing role-call of talented actors and directors who have never won an Oscar.

** CLOSE-UP ON HOBBIES **
What do you have planned for Easter? Will you take the opportunity to work on your garden, build up your family tree or perhaps restore a classic car or motorcycle? This month we take a look at the ingenious ways that people are using digital cameras to get more from their hobbies. We explore the joys of creating a virtual garden journal, repairing and preserving family archive photos, and when to use a ladder on a classic car. Plus, discover how Picture It! digital imaging software offers a quick, simple step-by-step way to create better pictures.

Picture It! is an easy-to-use photo studio that makes it simple to transform, organise and share your photos. Retouch your photos in seconds, create online and offline photo albums, and play around with dozens of special effects. We have 5 copies to give away. Just answer the following question:

Q: What's the name of the free Microsoft photo service that allows you to create an online photo album and share your pictures with friends?

Please see the competition terms and conditions at the end of this newsletter for details on how to enter.

** A TAX ON NAGGING AND CHAT-UP LINES **
If you could create your own fantasy budget, what would you tax? To coincide with the budget on 9 April, Microsoft Money commissioned a survey to discover men's and women's pet hates. Half (47%) of British women said they'd tax cheesy chat up lines, while men would like to see nagging (35%) and 'girly' TV programmes like 'Sex in the City' (31%) taxed. However, we could be waiting some time for Gordon Brown to introduce these measures. In the meantime, Microsoft Money is the perfect tool for creating and tracking budgets for the year, following the Chancellor's report.

Would you like to reshuffle your finances? Set new budgets for yourself? Get more control over your cashflow? Then have a go at our competition to win a copy of Money Financial Suite 2003. This software can help you get a better grip on your finances by controlling your outgoings, tracking investments and planning for the future. We have two copies to give away. Just answer this question:

Q: Which edition of Microsoft Money includes the TaxSaver Deluxe tax calculation software - Money 2003 or Money Financial Suite 2003?

Please see the competition terms and conditions at the end of this newsletter for details on how to enter.

** THE MOUSE MATCH CHALLENGE **
Make your allegiance clear with brand new special edition mice that match your favourite football team colours. The Optical Mouse Red is just the ticket for Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool fans. Meanwhile, Everton, Chelsea and Birmingham fans will love Microsoft's new Optical Mouse Blue and Wireless Optical Mouse Blue. Microsoft doesn't yet do stripy mice, so Newcastle United fans will have to choose from the Wireless Optical Mouse Black, Black Wheel Mouse Optical or the Wireless Optical Mouse in Ice White. We can't say how well they perform on grass, but the new optical technology means these mice work on virtually any surface, including wood, plastic and even clothing. Look out for our competition to win a special edition Optical Mouse Red in next month's Insider.

Use it when you need a quick response, or to see if someone is online. Contact colleagues away from the office and send documents and files in an instant. ** PROTECT YOURSELF FROM PIRATES **
You can't tell modern-day software pirates by their cutlasses, eye patches or gold earrings, but gold CD Roms could be a clue. Read our latest article to discover ten useful anti-piracy tips, how to avoid being ripped off, and where to buy cheaper, legal software. Counterfeit software often appears a bargain. But you run a higher risk of getting a virus along with the product and may find yourself with no access to technical support or upgrades. So get our Insider guide to protecting yourself, your computer and your data from software pirates.

** THE COOLEST MOUSE AND KEYBOARD **
Keep cool this summer with the latest mouse and keyboard combination. The Microsoft (R) Wireless Optical Desktop in Ice White has stylish looks and plenty of features that can help you get tasks done more quickly and productively. It's wireless, so you can free your desktop from cables. The mouse and keyboard both work within six feet of the receiver, even if your computer is out of sight. Speed up everyday tasks with Hot Keys that quickly start Messenger, Mail and Internet programs. Press a button to open, close, save, send and forward emails. And get one-touch access to media and files stored in My Documents, My Pictures and My Music. The mouse and keyboard are both shaped for comfort, with an optical mouse that suits both right and left-handed users.

** SCANDAL, DRAMA AND THE TOUR DE FRANCE **
The Tour de France celebrates its centenary this year, marking 100 years of extraordinary achievements, scandals and dramas. In the first race in 1904, spectators spread nails on the track and the first four cyclists were disqualified. In 1998, French team Festina were expelled for taking performance-enhancing drugs. That year's winner, Marco Pantani, was subsequently also found guilty of taking illegal drugs. Test your Tour de France knowledge with this month's article from Encarta (R), the multimedia encyclopaedia. Do you know which year the Tour de France came to England, and why? Which American won the race after being shot in the back during a family hunting trip? And who was the first Briton to wear the maillot jaune?

> To discover more about the Tour de France, read the Encarta article at:

For a start, you can while away several minutes using your mouse to make the white mouse scurry along the screen or jump up to try to catch the cursor. Try the Xbox Live Experience, meet the Xtreme Beach Volleyball players, or take the PlayTest and find out whether you play to win or just for a laugh.

> Discover Play More. It's all at:

Congratulations to the four people who won a vibrant new scarlet and silver Optical Mouse Red. We had over 1,500 entries and are delighted that we made one man in particular very happy. INSIDER NEWS
=============

** SEE THE NEW TILT WHEEL MOUSE IN ACTION **

Microsoft(R) has reinvented the wheel with revolutionary mice that include the new Tilt Wheel technology. Now you can scroll from side to side as well as up and down, making it much easier to scroll sideways across wide web pages or Excel spreadsheets. Just tilt the mouse in the direction you want to go, and the page will scroll that way. The Tilt Wheel incorporates an extra-smooth gliding action and accelerated scrolling for when you're in a hurry. You can also switch between applications simply by pressing down on the scroll wheel. Enjoy the experience of ultra-stylish, ultra-smooth mousing with new Tilt Wheel mice such as the Wireless IntelliMouse(R) Explorer and the Wireless Optical Mouse.

** PROTECT YOURSELF FROM MYDOOM **

The first version of the Mydoom worm virus - Mydoom A - shot to the top of the virus hit lists when it appeared in January this year, and was proclaimed the fastest-spreading virus ever. It spread quickly because it used computer address lists, and created false addresses, titles and attachments that made it difficult to detect. New variants B and C have since appeared and, if you dealt with the first version, it doesn't mean you're protected from subsequent variants. Read our advice on how to tell if your computer is infected, deal with an infection, and protect yourself from all three variants.

> Read advice on protecting your computer from Mydoom here:

They had uncovered the first signs of the incredible Terracotta Army, which had been entombed for more than 2,000 years. Read about this and other great archaeological finds in history in the latest article from Encarta(R), the only interactive multimedia encyclopedia specially adapted for the UK.
