I could use outlook and MSN Messenger, all other programmes gave me the Page cannot be displayed message .
This was shortly after I switched 2 computers to a shared phone line, we can't get broadband. We used 2 wireless modems to achieve this and for a while all was ok. Then the problems above hit on my computer plus the other computer could acess some sites including hotmail but not with my log in but it couldn't access messenger.

After much weeping and gnashing of teeth, we (my comp geek & I ) dumped loads of stuff, the problem was my comp (the main one) kept changing the internet access ports. Bu using BAZOOKA www.bazooka.com a FREE but send a donation, I have it's worth it , we found loads of spyware that other programmes had missed or else the uninstall had only removed part of the spyware. Bazooka gives line by line instructions on how to manually go into the files and pull out the offending items.

Once that was done we tried again all worked well for 5 minutes then back to the old problem. We finally discovered that it was dear old Freeserve. Some while back they insisted that all users had to have a connection device that rerouted the phone call if the first number was busy, it was free and a must have so I down loaded it. Trouble is everytime it switched the phone call it also changed the ports the proxy server installed with the modems was set to !

I deleted the dialler, and so far all is well.

The spyware thing is a side issue but I cannot praise bazzoka highly enough, do you know how much spyware is in your system ? Even the stuff you think you have deleted or unistalled ???
