Pictures

Go to pictures and either post your pic in Members Mugshots, or start your own album.

Using pictures uses up your 3Mb of space, so if posting paintings etc, its easier to either cut and paste them with a message or attach them to a message.

Chat

If you have a problem entering chat (most members have a problem leaving LOL) see separate Techy Stuff article.

I'm assuming its not just me keeps getting the code in these postings instead of what appears on the screen?
I would suggest a screen shot (using print screen key) posted into an image editor, trimmed to show the bit you need, saved to a file and pasted into the message as a graphic.
Just a suggestion ;o) It comes out like this, depending on where you chop:

Can you explain that a little further, Ginger. When I press my print screen key nothing seems to happen.

Aha - thanks Clf - after years of owning a comp I learn something new. Is there a quick way of deleting it completely from your comp afterwards? I deleted it from the clipboard but it remained in my 'all picture files'. I then had to delete it from there again.

yes, don t save it lol.

for it to go into a file you must have saved it. I have winXP pro but do not have an 'all pictures file' but I do have a 'my pictures' folder, if that is what you mean, winXP may prompt you to save images into that initially. To alter the inital save as/to prompt(ie my docs, or my pictures) you need to alter the registry, or you can download this tool Xteq-Xsetup , it can alter many things quite safely, some of my own screen shots can be found HERE . It is an excellent tool for customising windows, and internet explorer.

The other possibility, is that you have another image programme, which automatically saves it. To alter that, you will have to find the 'options' or 'preferences' of that programme, and investigate there. (eg. in word, it is in the 'tools' tab, in paint shop pro, it is in the 'file' menu)

Incidentally, to completely delete all traces(after you have deleted the actual file), if you right click on your start menu, select properties, click the start menu tab, then customize button, you will then be presented with a 'clear' button, which clears out you 'recent document' history(similar to internet history, but for offline documents).

Why do you wish to completely erase your tracks, eh?????

I have two or three paint and photo programs, Clf. Originally I tried to 'Print Screen' to MGI Photo Suite but couldn't find a select button as you indicated in MS Paint. I then went to MS Paint and both those little boxes at the bottom left produced the same print (I had clicked 'print screen' a couple of times wondering why nothing appeared to be happening so I presumed it had saved twice) which was fine, but I have a 'thing' about keeping useless stuff on my comp so as soon as I was happy it worked I tried to delete them but didn't know how. I then remembered MGI has a 'delete from clipboard' button so I went into MGI and cleared the clipboard. I then opened MGI, clicked on browse for all pictures, and low and behold the print appeared in 'My Photos'. Don't ask me - I just press the buttons - lol. Anyway, I deleted that to my bin and got rid of it. I just wondered why it was still hanging around after I cleared the clipboard.

The 'select' button is in MSPaint only, it is a cropping tool, but MGI if I rem. correctly, has an 'edit' menu, of which you can paste from.

I use PSP also, but never had anything save without me having to save it manually, however, I do have the autosave function switched off . It could be that.

open psp -> file menu -> preferences(scroll box will open) -> click on the 'autosave settings' (probably the last option)

Autosave used to save work, that you may not be able to, if you have a power outage or crash.

I don't seem to have an 'Autosave' but I do have a box ticked which says 'save browser files to disc'. It was a browser file I had printed - could that be the answer?

Ocker, I enjoy seeing the emoticons to express one's feelings within a response. I have visited some webpages that have such, but would like to know how to be able to have access to them while on any specific board and to be able to use them at anytime I wish. If you can help with this problem, I would most certainly appreciate it.. Thanks and hope you vacation to Vegas was FUN.
