Intermittently, my cursor darts about all over the screen without me touching it.

i have defragged, and done all the usuals.......................Any ideas?

If I unplug the mouse, cursor remains static, but I don't think mouse is faulty.

Anyone help please?

I use windows XP home edition and have norton antivirus etc. I also use spybot occasionally

Sounds like you are using just bad/cheap optical mouse, those mess around with cursor sometimes. does the cursor stop messing around the moment you pick up mouse? Is it optical mouse?

If so, get new one by Logitech, those are not expensive and really good.

Hi,

Depending on the amountof use the mouse has, it only truly runs to perfection for about two years... You can try removing the ball and carefully cleaning inside with a cotton bud.. they pick up a lot of debris, give the ball a clean also with alint free cloth, failing that, drop a hint to someone, it is Christmas afterall..
