I recently seemed to be getting loads of pop up ads on my PC. After a  bit of investigating I found I had a program called Cmesys.exe running. This is an adware (spyware) program which had been inadvertaintly installed while installing a theme.
I have now of course removed the offensive item. But beware when intalling software, that you don't install stuff you dont want as well.
I found this site which is usefull in explaining what some of the programs running in the task list are - and whetehr they really need to be running or are just slowing down your PC.

Thanks for the tip Stu, Have you added the site to Links?
I use Mem Turbo to block all pop up adds, and CAMTECH is a freeware site that has many spy blocker programmes available. It's a sad fact of life that almost anything you d/l these days has spyware as part of the package, these programmes need regularly clearing out because they do leak memory and slow down your comp.

I use ad-aware after Iced-Gem put me onto it. You can read about it & download it here:

If you do a google search on programs running or prompted by your firewall, you can usually find all sorts of info about them.
