STRESS BUSTER #2 - TIGHTEN & RELAX (for everyone) It may seem strange to "tighten" when you want to relax, but often when we are stressed, we get "tunnel vision" and don't notice where we have tightened up. When you tense your muscles first, it's easier to relax them. Step 1 - tighten your neck & shoulders. Hold to a count of three. Step 2 - relax that tension. Step 3 - (optional) as you relax your neck & shoulders, you may want to envision tension, upset, anger, etc. flowing out of your body... Step 4 - (optional) repeat two or three times as often as necessary. Step 5 - Tighten & relax (in sequence) your arms, chest, back, buttocks, and legs. (for those who have The Radiance Technique®) Place your Radiant Healing Hands on your neck, shoulders, etc. for even a minute or two. You will find the stress and tension disappearing. STRESS BUSTER #3 - MOVE! (for everyone) When we are stressed, we freeze (like the baby deer in the forest) Any movement will dissipate some stress. 1. Get up from your chair or desk or ??? 2. Get your body in action. Do some easy stretches: raise your arms, rotate your shoulders, gently turn your head to one side and then the other. 3. Walk over to a window and look out - or take a quick walk up the hall. (IF YOU HAVE STUDIED THE RADIANCE TECHNIQUE®) Place your Radiant Hands over your face. ahhhhhhh. That was a nice. Geeling good. I have to remember to do more of these, and some yoga everyday because when I do I feel better, and think better and am more relaxed. A little self talk to Nana- Just do it! |
