These two pictures have a connection, and  a story.  They are across the street from each other.  This is not in America.  Can you sense the connection or do you get an impression?

I just the red X in second one also. The first one I felt a saddness around it. Like there was hopes and dreams of the people who built the building, but they didn't come true and they lost the dreams and gave up hope. I see alittle girl looking out the window at the top. Seems to be blonde, 9-11 yrs old.

I see Ireland.  I see a family working hard in the fields.  Picking veggies or maybe pulling weeds.  I see a mom and a young daughter.  They are dressed in white like they are Puritans or something.  Not head to toe white but I do see white.  I hope I am not completely wrong.  All I see in the second picture is a red x.  I'm gonna guess that one side is Catholic and the other Protestant.  Because of the Irish thing.

I see a hard working family, the mother churning butter, the kids playing.  I also get an English connection.

I think this place has a connection to the church or was a church or something?

Regards

Rosemary

This is about  love story in my family history.  God Bless tmy ancestors  for their courage, fortitude and vision.  As faras I can trace they lived in these 2 house from prior to 1775- 1825

You all had gotten the gist of the pics.  Their were LOTs of children growing up in these 2 houses.   The families worked hard- churned butter, grew crops, and raised their children.

The Catholics were very angry that  by law they were forced  pay tithes to the Church of Ireland (protestant) ,while  the potato and other crops were failing and most of the labor jobs were cut or discontinued.  The Irish became a financial problem  to the English so they came up with a relocation scheme to send them to Canada,  These placed Irish people to Canade also served to fortify the Canadian Border against America.  and others..

The first picture was the house of John and Ellen TOBIN, my ancestors.  They lived near Mitchelstown,Cork Ireland.  They had 7 children.

The 2nd picture -The house across the street was the CLIFFORD house where Jane grew up with  her family lived.  They had lots of children- but one of their daughter's was named JANE.

John Tobin's son -Thomas fell in love with and married his "girl next door" Jane Clifford in 1823.   In May of 1825 the whole Tobin family, including 2 of the married sons and families departed with the Peter Robinson group to start a new life in Douro, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.  Jane's sister also came.

In 1825 A total of 2,024 people were crowded onto  nine ships causing ships fever which resulted in several deaths during the voyage." They finally arrived on a  strange land with almost nothing- and ended up on virgin wooded land.  Immediately after getting their allocated land plot they had to quickly get to work to build a cabin and clear the land to plant.  They had to build cabins and clear the land for planting.  They had  little resources, food and tools and there were many deaths, but the families survived and thrived.  The area of Peterborough, Ontario now has 1,000's of theise original settlers still living on the original lot or in the area.
