In a vision quest conditions are set up that allow the soul to move beyond the illusions of the little self and enter the unity of the inner whole.
In Native American traditions these times of inner trial are marked liked passages. Time is set aside to honor them.
It might be a day, a week, a month, whatever is necessary to complete the transformation and get the answer one seeks.
One goes out alone into nature with just water to spend the time seeker greater truths. Often no clothing is worn. A blanket may be provided.
A sacred circle of stone is placed on the ground. The individual remains in the circle for a certain period of time.
When the quest is over the person leaves.
In many instances one is taken out of their body and are confronted by both the angelic and the demonic aspects of their own fears.
The insights during the sacred space allowed the veils between this world and the next to be pulled back to allow the voyager to transcend himself and this dimension.
PREPARATION FOR THE MEDITATION This meditation is best done in nature - especially in the mountains. You can also connect at home.
Relax and take three slow deep breath.
Close your eyes.
See yourself alone . . . in nature.
You are relaxed in an field of grass and trees.
Feel the sun's warmth and light.
Stop and smell the flowers.
Listen to the sounds of naturethe water rippling over stones the birds chirping.
A Great Spirit has come to take you on a journey in which your spiritual mission will be shown.
The spirit may be in the physical form of a bird or other anuimal or in a human form - a spirit linked to your journey. The Spirit beckons you to come with it.
See yourself on this sacred journey.
Look for messages from the spirits who have come to guide you.
