And I refuse to believe this, but the girl in the field standing at the Nokia theater on this morning's news was saying it's believed that the special guest tonight could be --- Led Zeppelin.

No. Fucking. Way. I just can't believe that Pagey has gotten that old and jaded and stupid and sell-out-ish to do something so phenomenally the antithesis of what they've always represented. Plant, yes, in a heartbeat. He's Mr. Commercial all wrapped up in faux hardcore rock n' roll. But Pagey?????

*cries*

As much as I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see them, I just can not accept this concept - Zep? On freakin' American freakin' Idol? Say it's not so!!!

I still think it's going to be Michael Jackson. He's working out a deal for a Vegas gig, he needs the cash, he needs to get back in the spotlight, and he'd be the perfect guest performer for AI.

(oh please don't be Zep, omg, no......)

Oh, and someone else happened to be out front of the Nokia this morning - our very own Constantine Mouralis! LMAO, he's such a camera whore. I love him.

(Tonight is going to be horrid, traffic-wise - the Nokia is right across the street from the Staples Center, and there's an important Lakers-Spurs game going on. People will probably be arriving for both events around the same time -- which will coincide with rush-hour as well. Eek! Glad I'm not going anywhere near there!)

There's no way Zep would be there.  No way.

More For Wednesday:

  • David Cook and Mariah Carey will duet on “Always Be my Baby?
  • David Archuleta and Neil Diamond will duet on “America?(this is still a rumor)
  • While many of the ex-Idols have been invited back for the finale, many in the Top 24 have not?
  • Seal will perform, according to the FOX report.
  • Donna Summer and ZZ Top are performing according to this. Yay?
  • “Other rumors include a performance by the Jonas Brothers and perhaps a gift from his pop holiness, Kanye West. We’ll see…?From here.
  • Jason Castro has a clue for one of the guest stars, he says that one was known as “codename Virgin Airlines?
  • Uhm. The biggest star in the world is George Michael. WTF?
  • Adam Cook will be in the audience tonight.
  • he So You Think You Can Dance dancers will be performing on Wednesday’s finale
  • Two Idols from each of the previous six seasons will come back to perform a group number. Hooray! Bo Bice has already confirmed. Yahoo.
  • Carrie Underwood will perform her new single “Last Name? according to her My Space.
  • There’s going to be another “Dead Elvis?video (last year, Celine Dion sang a “duet?with Elvis Presley), this time including several people, per Nigel on KISS.
  • Paula Abdul will debut a song from her upcoming album, and the Top 12 will also be performing alongside Paula for a special group number. Yahoo.
  • The band One Republic (responsible for the mega-hit “Apologize? Ryan Tedder from the band recently wrote for Clay Aiken and Blake Lewis) canceled a gig in order to be available for the finale. Daily Press
  • Nigel Lythgoe says the kids will be singing 8 new songs tonight. The Top 5 have duets, except for Jason Castro who will be singing “Hallelujah?by himself. David Archuleta and David Cook will sing a duet–at first it was going to be “Homeward Bound?but they decided on “Hero?from Spiderman (Cookie suggested it). Nigel says “the most famous star in the world?may not be a musician. From an interview with Nigel and the Davids this morning on KISS.

So who's the surprise guest then?

I still think it's MJ.

And thanks for agreeing there's no way Zep would do this Schmaltz-fest. I still can't believe they threw that out there this morning.

"Idol" Pips Out "Iron Man"

Posted May 21st 2008 2:10PM by TMZ Staff

George Michael is performing on tonight's "Idol" finale, but he ain't "the biggest star in the world" that Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe has been touting -- our spies tell us, it's "Iron Man" Robert Downey Jr.

TMZ moles say the finale will include a virtual hologram of Gladys Knight singing "Midnight Train to Georgia" with Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Downey Jr. singing backup as the Pips. Holy Nat King Cole! "Idol" did this last season when Celine Dion sang along side a virtual undead Elvis. For the record, Gladys Knight is still alive.

We're told the Jonas Brothers, ZZ Top, Seal, Bryan Adams, One Republic, Jordin Sparks and Carrie Underwood will also perform before David Archuleta (or possibly maybe, but not likely, Cook) is crowned the winner.

Ok, they were talking about RDJ <3 this morning being on - and debating whether it's RDJ who's "the biggest star" or if it's Ironman who's "the biggest star".

But if they're referring to George Michael - who, yes, has been extremely enjoyable on that Eli Stone show and very funny - I can't even say I'd call him a "big" star, much less "the biggest".

Idiots, indeed.

I am looking forward to seeing ZZTop though. The Gladys Knight number might be cute, considering who's playing along, but otherwise what a dopey idea! There is no other guest that is even of remote interest to me, lol.

Looking forward to hearing Jason do Hallelujah again though. That song seriously gets to me anyway, but he does it so well. Also looking forward to hearing what Paula's going to do. I hate to admit it, but I really really like that song she just released with Randy a couple months ago (Dance Like There's No Tomorrow). Seriously, that thing is infectious, I really actually like it! *blushing face here*

Oh - and why does Doug get saddled with singing with that ick-fest that is Mariah Carey, while Archie gets to sing with the great Neil Diamond, huh? WTH?

According to this... Michael Jackson was supposed to perform...

but it's from a tabloid, so who knows....

MICHAEL Jackson pulled out of a huge TV comeback ?with stagefright.

Jacko, 49, was to sing live on the final of American Idol in front of a TV audience of 27 million.

But 24 hours before the show in Los Angeles he bottled out, saying: “I can’t do it. Everyone will hate me.?

A source said: “This was his big chance but he got stage-fright.?

Spice Girls guru Simon Fuller is helping Jacko with his comeback, say insiders.

Wow. Well, either I was right, or I should be writing for a tabloid.
