Flowers are beautiful as they bloom in spring and summer. Here are some fun flower crafts for your kids. Also enjoy four super coloring pages that you can print at home.

Flower Crafts

Flower Yarn Painting

Materials:

  • Tempera paint (various colors)
  • Yarn cut in 12-18 inch pieces (various colors)
  • Paint brush
  • Hinged clothespins
  • Paper

Directions:

  1. Hold one end of the yarn with a clothespin.
  2. Dip string into paint. Use a paint brush, if you need help getting a thick coat of paint on the yarn.
  3. Drape the yarn onto your paper, making flower patterns.
  4. Lift string off. Let dry.

Flower Jigsaw Puzzle

Materials:

  • Crayons or markers
  • Glue
  • Broad brush
  • Cardboard
  • Cardstock paper
  • Scissors

Directions:

  1. Draw a flower picture on the cardstock paper (or use one of the coloring pages below).
  2. Brush glue over the back of your drawing.
  3. Glue your drawing onto the cardboard, smoothing out all of the wrinkles.
  4. When the glue dries, turn over drawing and outline jigsaw shapes with crayons. Cut out the shapes.
  5. Have fun reassembling the picture.

Flower Mosaic

Materials:

  • Scraps of colored construction paper
  • Cardstock paper
  • Black crayon or marker
  • Scissors
  • Paste
  • Paint brush

Directions:

  1. Draw a flower picture on cardstock using a black crayon or marker, so you just have the outline only.
  2. Tear construction paper into tiny pieces of all different shapes.
  3. Glue the pieces of construction paper to go inside the flower picture, using the black outline as your guide.

Flower Collage

Materials:

  • Large sheet of poster board
  • Green tempera paint
  • Mini-cupcake holders (various colors)
  • Glue
  • Any other decorative materials you want to use (confetti, feathers, sequins, etc.)

Directions:

  1. Glue mini-cupcake holders to the poster board with the bottom being glued down. Arrange the mini-cupcake holders so that they are spaced out.
  2. Paint on green stems with the tempera paint. Paint on leaves (or use green feathers for the leaves).
  3. Add other decorations to your picture as you like.
  4. Let dry.

Paper Sun Flowers

Materials:

  • Toilet paper tube and paper towel tube
  • Green pipe cleaners
  • Cardboard
  • Yellow, orange and green paint
  • Foam brushes
  • Tacky glue
  • Scissors
  • Hole punch
  • Pencil
  • Small piece of clay
  • Small rocks, beads, or marbles

Directions:

  1. Cut the paper towel tube into 2 inch rings. Make small snips all around ring every 1/2 inch. Make the snips about 1 inch deep. Fold back the snips to form flower petals. Paint the petals with yellow.
  2. Trace around the end of the tube on cardboard to make three middles for the flowers. Cut out inside the lines. Cut leaves out of cardboard. Paint the middles orange. Paint the leaves green.
  3. Punch a hole in the bottom of each flower. Slide the pipe cleaner through the hole and glue in place. Glue a flower middle to the pipe cleaner inside each flower. Glue the leaves to stems.

To make the vase:

Trace around a glass cup onto cardboard. Cut out the circle. Glue the toilet paper tube to the center of the cardboard. Let dry. Paint orange. Decorate with dabs of yellow and green paint. Push some clay inside the vase. Push flower stems into the vase. Fill with marbles, small stones or beads to decorate.
