Help or hinderance ? I found this article interesting, written by a Celtic fan about the Celtic support :- A lot of the issues he raised apply to watching games at Ibrox as well. |

The remarkable thing about that article is that the writer clearly doesn't believe that the C*ltic support have always been the way he describes, and actually used to be much much worse because he's forgotten about a right few things that I could mention. To frame a full argument around a time when his club's fans were bizarrely awarded a prize for mass vagrency, littering and general drunkeness (the very things Rangers fans were castigated for in Barcelona recently) is almost sureal in it's 'head in the sand-ness'. Both Rangers and C*ltic supports contain a significant element of the dregs of Scottish society. I've always said the two supports have more in common than they have differencies. Both sets of fans are certainly over complacent about their respective clubs relationship with the rest of Scottish football. They both expect home games to be won in the first 20 minutes and are detrimental to their own teams chances when this doesn't hapen. |

Well done to this man for actually taking a step back and saying " Hey we have got a lot of problems ourselves" I can`t recall ever hearing one of the other mob being critical of their beloved support! In saying that he will have over stepped the mark with most sellik fans and will not be welcome back at Porkheed! Really though why sellik were given the award in the first place beggers belief! |

It was quite refreshing to see someone from the other side being honest and brave enough to point out a lot of the negative things regarding his team that are generally swept under the carpet by the Scottish media. His comments did not surprise me as I have many friends who are fellow supporters of his team and they too regularly moan about some of what they see and hear, both at home and away matches. I don't agree with everthing that is said, however, especially the part about being great fans in the past when things were not going well. I'm old enough to remember many occasions when they didn't exactly cover themselves in glory and let their team down. There was also many times when they deserted matches in droves long before the final whistle. One area which I do agree with is how supporters get on the back of one or two players and no matter how hard the player tries to prove himself the fans are always on his back. At Ibrox this has been a regular thing every season and one player is always selected for the treatment. One season I even recall Wilkins getting stick from a guy behind me at nearly every home game. |

"a guy behind you" - that wasn't a veiled reference to me, I hope ? I was a huge fan of Ray Wilkins ! Hopefully you're referring to the big blonde guy that has the trampoline under his chair. |

Nope, it ain't you, babe. The guy I'm talking about sat directly behind me but stopped coming a long time ago. |

Oh yes, I remember who you're talking about. Podgy baldy guy from Shettleston ? We used to clash occasionally, as I can't keep my mouth shut at times, and he was always arguing with other fans as well ? Funnily enough, we used to chat fairly amicably regularly as well, and he was a fan of Shettleston Juniors so we met at junior games as well. His seat had the name "Natalie Barnett" on it for a while, which I found a bit suspicious, or maybe the club were having a wee dig at his hairstyle ? He moved to another seat about 3 years ago if I remember correctly. |
