Astrology Signs and Planets.

The Red Planet is about to be spectacular! This month and next,
Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate
in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded
history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due
to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit,
astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this
close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as
60,000 years before it happens again.

                                                         The encounter
will=
culminate on
August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of
Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the
night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11
arc seconds wide. At a modest 75-power magnification
Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. Mars
will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the
East at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will
rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m.
That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being
has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the
beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and
brighter throughout the month. Share this with your children and
grandchildren. NO ONE ALIVE TODAY WILL EVER SEE THIS
AGAIN

So what does this mean astrologically? The world is already fomenting with 'wars and rumors of wars' everywhere. Does this indicate escalation? Or will the peaceniks of the world, myself included, finally cry ENOUGH!, go grab all the war-mongering miscreants, gag them, bind them, and drop them into the deepest part of the Atlantic (Wow! that was a marvelous fantasy!)? It will evidently be some kind of momentous and historical time. With mars involved, what can Mother Earth and all her little earthlings expect? Angelbear7042

"...Perihelial oppositions (when the sun and mars are closest and line up on opposite sides of the earth) are infrequent but not especially rare, recurring every 15-17 years. The last one occurred in September 1988, when Mars was within 36.5 million miles of Earth, less than two million miles farther away than the current, record-setting perigree. Before that, in 1971, Mars perigree was even closer, at 34.9 million miles from Earth. So, those perspectives may somewhat deflate our tendency to overhype the significance of the upcoming opposition..."

I think the mars stuff in combination with the opposition to uranus, stationing pluto--the new moon in pisces and mercury retrograde are the really big deal in all this. I find it fascinating that the sun-mars opposition happens within days of all of that. Erin sullivan says that the sun/planet opposition " externalizes interior energy which has been gestating and cooking in the unconscious. The sun-mars opposition is particularily dramatic and highlights the two houses in which one has been experiencing a build up of energy, whether hostile or constructive."

Also at the start of stationing direct pluto...I think it's huge...Pluto goes direct August 28th, the same day mercury goes retro...and the same day sun opposes mars...check your ephemeris....

So far I've been okay with the mars station, fortunately it's been trine my moon...but by the end of august it will be squaring my 7th house jup/neppy....my 12th and 8th rulers...should be interesting to say the least...I've been trying to be proactive and make myself get some physical exercise to keep the energy moving...an Aries with pent up frustration is not a good thing...LOL--also I'm trying to be detatched and observe the changes that are coming so I can move with them vs. fighting them...when it comes to the universe...the universe always gets its way...lol

the Erin Sullivan book on Retrograde planets has some really good information in it, I recommend it to anyone with natal retro's or who is concerned about the way rx's impact the natal by transit...I have 5 natal rx's and the way she describes them is very close to my actual experience of them...good book !
