I bring my A frican grey home I'm so excited i'm like a mom bringing her new baby home I spent the whole day yesterday cooking and shopping I made bean mash, carrot and oatmeal muffins cooked sweet potato's, squash , and turnips then I went and bought every kind of leafy, root , and regular vegitable I thought the birds might like fruit galore ieven bought them a couple pomagrante at $2.99 each I bought granola bars 4 diferent kinds because Tyco loves them and ocean spray cran apple juice his favorite so I think I'm good for about a weel or so longer if you count the three 5 kg bags of frozen veggies that I bought also I might have a bit of a problem though apparently she doesn't feed him pellet except  for the one that come in her seed mix which as far as I know doesen't have much in it so to convert him to Pellets might be a problem oh well If  I have trouble I'll just ask here I'm sure someone will be able to help me you people are so smart when it comes to things like this so I've dicided that I'm going to keep him away from the other birds for a while and introduce them slowly I have a vet appointment so tomorrow for him so I can make sure that he's healthy before I bring him into the house I just can't wait Pat

Woohoo. I bet you are more excited than a new mama bringing home a new baby. Diapers, you know.
2.99 for one pomegranate??? I paid 1.98 and nearly died!! Worth every penny, though, when you see them scarf them down. Further into fall we will be able to get them for 50 cents each.

The fresh mixtures are better than pellets but if that is the only thing he eats be sure to ask the vet if he needs supplements.
Pictures as soon as you get home, please!!

I posted to this earlier right after I talked with you in IM, Pat, but I guess it went into cyberspace! lol

I'm tickled pink that you are finally going to be able to take your Grey home! Don't forget ... lots of picture, please!

I'm hopping for happiness on your behalf, Pat!

Let us know when he's home! As for the pellets, I'd just feed him what he's used to for now, then gradually switch him when he's settled. All that food sounds great... except  the granola bars. Be careful not to feed too much or too often. They usually have added fats to keep them chewy, and heaps of added sugars. The crunchy ones are not as bad. (none with choc chips either! lol. those are my boy'd favorites and I only let them give Rica and Kit each a pea sized bite if they make sure no chip is in it and only once in a while.)

I tried to buy the granola bars the healthest I could find low fat fruity trail mix and stuff like that she feed them to him alot so I'll wein him of slowly I find better treats for him asI find out what he likes and doesn't like I'm sure there will be a favorite food that he will just love with all the stuff I bought
