Thats very intersting. I saw the pic under "Another new member" of 18 yr old Sunny. Ozzy is supposed to me around 7 yrs or so. Thats what the rescue got from the owners who turned him in. Here is another pic that shows his yellowing better. It is interesting to compare. Anyone else have pics?? |

I hit send when I meant to start a new paragraph I raised Zons for quite a few years and your guy looks like my older ones when the yellow started to show more on the back and tail... Is he wild caught by any chance? Wild caughts do have more yellow throughout their bodies than do aviary raised..... He sure looks happy with his play gym... I love to see pics so thanks for sharing... How's the weather further south? hot and dry? |

Wow! Those are great pics! Yours do seem to have alot of yellowing around the whole head. Hmmmmm.... Here is another pic. He doesnt seem to have as much yellowing, especially under the neck area. I never notice the difference in the yellowing all around. This pic was taken about a month or so after we got him......About a year ago. The rescue guy didnt have give alot of info on that. I assumed he was handraised. I was ingnorant and didnt think of questions to ask. He let me play with him the other day in a towel and I got to turn him over on his back and play footsies with him. I was happily shocked. |

Oh,forgot to say.....the weather is hot and way too dry. Not enough rain to douse the fires that are going on around. We got smoke all the way from the georgia fires to the Space Coast of Florida last week. |

The close up of Ozzy is beautiful! He poses, doesn't he? It looks like he's smiling where he's sitting on the wreath-type perch. My birds sit around looking pretty, and I pick up the camera, and they act like goofs. I just took a couple of pics of my DYH Sunny, and her cagemate Baby, but I have to wait till hubby gets home because I forget how to upload them into the computer. Sunny is 18, and we got her from a breeder when she was something like 6 months old. It is only in the past 2 or 3 years that she's started to get more yellow on her head, and down her chest. Etta, how old is Stinker? He's feathered pretty much like Sunny. I love to look at pics of the Magna Yellow Heads. They're so pretty. |

Thank you Abby they are neat when they shower and you can see all the way the colours are... especially the browns that don't show up when they're dry.... |

Etta, may I ask how you arrived at the name Stinkerbutt? It's a tad different from most parrot names on BB so far.... |

Hahahha...made me laff. Ole Stinkerbutt has another name...I think Scots prefers to use the name that fits at that particular time and place. Like right now....Tickles would be called boogerbutt for being silly to her Papa by grabbing his sheeeeeeert. I think all of em look like they are smiling....like they all are holding back some funny secret trying to egg you on to ask what it is. |

His name was Desi and his mate was Lucy... Lucy passed away and he was then passed around as a single breeder for a few years and was supposedly breaking any eggs the hen laid... I couldn't take hearing about the bird any longer and when he was up for sale again I said I would buy him and the other amazon she had to take them out of circulation... he and the other were both strictly breeders and I set up inside cages in my quilting room... Mike came to visit from Oklahoma and while he was here I told him they had to be separated, had to be in different rooms as two against one (me) with the hissing, lunging and spitting was getting old... So I got Scarlet out and then came Desi's turn... I told Mike we'd put him in the 'Too room and he sure was a Stinkerbutt so watch out for fingers... I told the bird you're name should be Stinker and the bird said to me "it's a thought" so that stuck... he'd never answer to Desi but would to Stinkerbutt.... |

Good story....thanks for sharing. He's gorgeous. And I'm also noticing that most ALL Amazons look like they're smiling. Part of their charm. |
