I got an email from BF this morning, saying that they have just found out that Ernie has cancer. At this point they don't know how extensive it is. They are heading back home to Iowa ASAP, as he has an appointment there on April 4th. She's going to update me when they know more. Please keep Ernie, Donna and their sons in your prayers. Abby |

Update............ he is done with treatment!!!!!!! Still is having awful side effects from it but alot better then the alteritive (sp). Now for the surgrey Tuesday, Just praying that they do not see anything else while they are in there. hoping that they can do the micro surgrey, not the old fashion way. Not sure if Erika has told anyone or not but I went to have what they said was a bio of a lump in my breast. They did some more mamos & more ultras & this radiatolist (sp) said he was pretty sure they are just sists (SP), that he feels are luquid filled. No need for the BIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Thanks for the update, BF (Donna). I can imagine the relief you all must feel now that Ernie is finished with treatment, BF!! I'll be saying extra prayers for him on Tuesday, and will pray with you that they don't find anything else, and that he will recuperate really fast afterwards. Please keep us posted. BF, I'm sure glad that your lump is cysts. I've been there, done that, so I sure know what a scare it is! I'm keeping both of you in prayer. Abby |

New Update: I got this from Donna via e-mail. Just thought I would let everyone know that Ernie will have surgery this coming Tuesday Oct. 2. They feel that his gall bladder may have cancer in it also. Went to see the cancer Doctor last Monday Sept. 24. The doctor said that his side effects should all be gone now & that what ever is going on down under is something else. He hopes at the time of his surgery they will look around with a scope to see whats going on. I sure hope they can help him as he is awful pain every time he has a bowel treatment. He explains it has passing razor blades. He diffintantly has been showing the signs of this getting him down. Of course he won't admit it to anyone but me. Hes a tuff old bird & its a good thing. I will try to let everyone know what the out come is after Tuesday. Keep smiling no matter how things get!!!!!!

I'm so upset and heartbroken over all Birdy and Ernie are going thru and know full well it could have been Don and I facing the same thing when he was diagnosed with the same type of cancer a bit more than 3 years ago. Luckliy for Don he chose radical surgery, and though he deals with the side effects and complications of the surgery on a daily basis, he has been cancer free for three years. I will continue to lift you and Ernie up in my prayers as I know how difficult this is on both of you and your entire family. di |

Today went GREAT! The prayer chain sure does work. They took the gall bladder out micro & it looked healthy!!!!!!!!!! Not what they normally see if it is cancer. We will know the 19th for sure. His rear end is starting it heal, finally. There is a tear inside from his radiation, makes the skin weak they say. Has some nito paste to help it heal faster. All great news. He is very very tired more than normal but they said it could be that his body is so tired from the radiation yet. Just let him sleep as much as he wants. Been 12 hours now. He did make it from the truck to camper without sleeping LOL |
