Tomorrow Julia is having an adenoidectomy. She has had ENT issues since she was very tiny, so it will be good to finally have this done and overwith. I'm going over to stay with Emily and Little Murray while they take her in. Murray had asked me a while ago, and I meant to ask my boss, but forgot until today when Murray called to confirm the arrangement. I felt really badly about so little notice, but ... family first! I'd appreciate you thinking of Julia tomorrow. Abby |

Julia is in my prayers. Bless her. Is she frightened? Is it one day surgery? Annie |

She doesn't seem to be upset at all, Annie. They've talked none stop about how much better she is going to feel when she isn't stuffy and runny nosed all the time, so I think that she's looking foward to it. They have told her that it is going to hurt afterwards for a while, but she says "that's okay". Kids are so funny! lol Yes, all going well they will bring her home tomorrow afternoon. I had actually not heard of removing just the adenoids before. When Murray had his tonsils out about 38 years ago, they did a T&A as a matter of course. Thanks for your prayers, Annie. Abby |

Abby, I hope everything will go fine for Julie tomorrow. They're doing it on a holiday? My daugher, Helen, had her tonsils removed when she was 10 (she is now 17) and I always wondered why they didn't take the adenoids, too. Now I'm wondering why they would take adenoids and not grab the tonsils at the same time. No telling! You know, for a long time, it was quite unpopular to remove tonsils, and I guess it came back into favor in the medical profession in the last decade. Best wishes for Julia, and for her family. A big hug for her. I hope she'll mend real quick...it'll be such a relief for her when she mends completely. We'll be praying for her ...that it goes well and she heals quick. Poor kids..so many suffer from that problem. |

My prayers are with her too. My sons girlfriends little boy just had this done a few wks ago. They were prepared for the worst and he surprised them and acted like nothing happened. So prayers coming for a speedy recovery! Indy |

How is Julia, Abby? I hope she breezed the surgery. We were given ice cream as soon as we wanted to try to swallow when I was a bitty girl. I had tonsils and adenoids done. Missed so much school we had to do it. I think I had measles, mumps, chicken pox and tonsils all in first grade. Never sick after that year. I hope Julia does as well. Annie |

Thank you for all your prayers and good wishes, everyone! I can't believe I didn't give you an update yesterday! I meant to, but I guess I got sidetracked. It's probably Erika's fault! Sorry, Annie! Yes, Julia did breeze the surgery. Murray and Laura say that they had to coax her to eat popsicles in the recovery room because her throat hurt and she didn't want to swallow. They got home with her just after 2:00 pm. Nenna and Grandad brought over a bouquet of miniature carnations for her just before she arrived, to help her "feel better faster", and of course she was absolutely charmed as no one has given her flowers before. Julia long ago perfected the big-eyed, woe-begone, sad hound-dog look, and she was using it beautifully when anyone expressed sympathy to her. What a character! lol I had just turned two years when they did my tonsils and adenoids. They waited until I was two as they wouldn't do them before that. When my son Murray was little, he continually got tonisilitis, which then would turn into bronchitis, and one even broncho-pneumonia. I kept saying that the bronchitis was being caused or triggered by the tonsilitis, but by that time, doctors were more reluctant to do T&A's unless abosolutely necessary. However, just before he turned four years, we were moving from Dawson Creek down to Fernie, and I did not want to have to deal with strange doctors, hospitals, etc., so I was insistent that they "do" Murray before we left, so they did him in October. He never again had bronchitis! In fact, he rarely got sick at all after that. Jason, my younger son, still has his tonsils. Odd how different siblings can be. Sorry for the book! Again, thank you all for your concern! Abby |

Oh good....glad she came through okay but sorry about that throat..I too remember ice cream being the greatest healer. My tonils ruptured one night...boy what a mess on the pillow and sheets...bleaaah...had to go in and do the surgery right then. I had my little stuffed horsey the whole time...held tight to that thing..then left it when we went home...had to go all the way back and we were not close to town. I too had it down pat..the eyes...the look..got lots and lots of ice cream. |
