Now, if someone had asked me, I would have guessed that the male and female would have been set up in a breeder cage, without other birds, so that their breeder diet and overall health could be monitored.  And I would have guessed that the bottom of the cage would not be a good place for the eggs to be kept warm and safe or the babies to sit when they hatch.  And I would have guessed that raising babies in the midst of other adults would be stressful for the female, unless they were in a nest box in a huge aviary.  It's obvious that I know nothing about breeding birds.

Ms Killer is one of a kind laying her two eggs where others could step on them and they'd get broken, but I think she needs monitored to make sure her diet is healthy and should the eggs be fertile, that the babies are parent raised away from other adults.
Congratulations on the two eggs so far!! Wonder how many more?

Hi. We had a lovebird behave this way. I covered the egges with a margerin container with about half the side cut out. After a clutch or two with smaller openings she accepted a nest box. Good luck D.D.

Miss Killer got her name because she has a personality from hell to tell the truth but a real good mom. This is her second set of babies and she wants them where she wants them
I have offered her the nesting box and had her in a cage by herself but all she did was squack to get back into the big cage with the others
Not worried about the others stepping on them as they have a floor in the middle of their cage kind of like a balcony and they play up there and Miss Killer laid the eggs in the  corner under there
Today we have 3 eggs
I had a box over them but she politely removed it
Her mom laid eggs in the bottom of her cage and raised the babies == Once they where hatched I covered them with a box
The bottom of the cage has paper shavings and she covers the eggs and then takes the paper off and sits on them
At night I have to tell her good night as I am turning the lights out and then I turn them out and she hollers so I turn them on again and she goes to the eggs and I go to bed
When babies are born I always give mom seeds soaked in water and a little baby bird starter food in it with vitamins and have never had any problems - Hope 3 is all she is going to lay
When I clean the cage I take the bottom off and carefully take the shaved paper out and clean the cage and she watches me then but the cage back together and she checks her babies
But on the other hand Miss Killer who does not like people was hatched at  our place so she knows I will not harm her or the eggs
Sorry this is so long   == until next time  chemo

things should get interesting when they start to hatch as they the first 2 are close together and the other 2 are about 4 days apart = but Miss Killer has not read the book on how you are to do things   M

How is little Ms Killer doing today?
Any more eggs? and remember to supplement her feedings as long as she's laying.
Hopefully there won't be too many more eggs.......

Why is she called Miss Killer== cause she has a personality from hell to tell the truth and I hand raised her. And she sliced another birds head open fighting with him ( the other guy was fine)
Why is she got her eggs on the floor of the cage, cause I didn't want anymore babies, and have 2 females and 2 males together in this one cage and lots of mirrors etc for them to play with but guess I forgot to tell her no playing around
In there cage I have a floor raised up over half the cage so it looks like 2 stories and they like to eat thier food there and Miss Killer has laid her eggs in the bottom of the cage in the shredded paper in the corner where nobody will step on them.
When babies hatch I will feed mom soaked seed with a little baby bird starter in it and a couple of drops of vitamins
She does not want to be in a nesting box or have anything over the eggs
Last ones she had she took an egg out of her nesting box and I found it in the water bowel = now remember she is a little budgie How she did that is beyond me but Miss Killer does things her way    chemo

Guess what she now has 6 eggs so we know I am going to be hand feeding a couple = damn birds
I bought a hampster deck sort of thing and set it in the bottom of the cage and set the eggs in there and she has decieded it is okay as she is in there sitting on her large family She had better not do any more as dad is not helping her at all. It has a little clear plastic lid on it but so far she seems happy there
Got some seed soaking for her and some seeds right in  this hampster run thing so she doesn't have to go far,
Now Dad is a different story there are 2 males that are brothers and have been together since they have hatched and the one she picked has gotten her in the family way and then goes plays with his brother.
Life is going to the birds I am thinking
The first 2 eggs where laid right after each other and the other four will hatch about a week later so the first two I will take out and she can look after the other four and hopefully that is all she will have
Till tomorrow  chemo

Is she still sitting the four eggs?
If the male isn't helping it looks as if you'll have your hands full helping out... Four chicks should they all hatch out will be a strain  on Ms Killer.
And then I'd get the males the heck out of there away from the babies when they do hatch...

It sounds like Miss Killer does have her mind set on doing things her way.   How long before the first chicks are scheduled to hatch?  Will you leave them with mom until the other four begin hatching?
