Acanary bite is painless you just need to be quicker then him:)

Vicki, I live in No. Calif. and my canaries survive in their outside flights all year long.  Amy's idea of using an aquarium net will work well to catch your canary.  Also if you wait until after dark and quietly sneak up on the cage you can usually catch them when they are sleeping, or disoriented by the dark.  let us know how you have done.   di

I have a canary and i had to give it medicine so i threw a papertowel over it and then approached it with my hands.  Was really easy.. picking it up.. if they don't see your hand coming the don't get as frightened.  It worked for me..
