Fabulous!! As a 30 year veteran of working for the Columbus Fire Dept., I love this kind of thing, and have seen many. Once, in a large government complex that the city needed burned down, my boss let me and several other civilian employees stay in one while it was being burned. We were in there for about 5 minutes. It was fun! Barb |

Excellent pictures, Abeau! I really love when there is a picture story as this is. Great to see you. I sure hope this means that your shoulder is getting a bit better! Abby |

Great pictures Abeau! Oh my Barb, you would never find me in a house that was going to be burned down, even for 5 minutes. Fire scares the socks off of me! Kathy |

I ran into mine - got the 4 dogs out - ran back in to get Silk (grey) cause I couldn't see. Couldn't find him (he went under the paper) and was having trouble breathing. Ran out to get another breath, and was promptly sat on by a firefighter so I couldn't get back in. Large iguana made it out. I didn't find it fun, very scary how dark it got and how hot it was - and the flames were in another area of the house. It was disorienting. I respect firefighters that go in for others. Linda

Years ago an apartment building that was near my sister's did a control burn. Fascinating to watch from a distance. Would hate to have to try to get people and critters out of the real thing though. You do have to respect the training these people go through to keep us safe. |

I have a keen sense of smell about burning usually smelling it before anyone else... and fire terrifies me... I can't imagine being in a burning house with fire all around... (during the war a bomb dropped in our neighbourhood starting the fire to all the houses since it had hit a gas line) so my hats off to those who are brave enough to choose that as a career. |

Yes, I think the job firefighters do is so awesome! My hat's off to each one who braves the flames to rescue others. I have a keen nose too, Scots, when it comes to smoke of any kind. When I worked in a group home I was one of the first to tell when someone was smoking in their room, which was against the rules. People around here burn leaves in the fall and leave their burn piles smoldering for days at a time. When I'm out for my walks, I hold my breath when I have to go past the smoke. Kathy |
