I just had an email from Sherry and her mother is quite ill and needs prayers.
I had spoken to Sherry the other night and she was concerned, relying on her sisters for information as to her mum's health...

Today it seems the impending MRI didn't take place due to complications relating to the inability of her mum to remain still and calm...

Sherry is always here for us, now it's our turn to repay her kindness...

Lots of prayers going to Sherry's mum in TN...
and blessings to the whole family.... (((((hugs))))

Thank you so much. I know prayer helps and mom and daddy need it now.  the last few days have been really hard on daddy and my sisters, Mom knows daddy, but doesn't recoginze my sisters or brother or son.  I think that makes this so much harder to bear.
Last Sat was mom and daddy's 56 wedding anniversary.  she was 16 and he was 18 when they married.

the scariest thing is none of the drs know what is wrong with her.  the dr said he had never seen anything like what is happening to her.  he is a nurologist and he said he does know it is not periferial neoropathy, like they thought earlier in the year. she can move her hands and her feet, but her arms and legs are not working.  She isn't able to swallow, they finally were able to put a feeding tube in last night.

Mom has never been able to lie on her back, and the pain when they are trying to get the MRI is to much for her to lie still for long and it will take a little over an hr for the test.  They didn't want to put her to sleep, they were hoping to monitor the brain during the MRI, but they have decided the will have to knock her out because they must do the MRI.  It is scheduled for sometime Friday.

thanks for the prayers.
Sherry

SHERRY,
same thing happened to my mom after taking a flu shot!!!
the doctors at university of kentucky said it was ::
sorry i'm gonna guess at the spelling (gilliam bera syndrome)...
she was really sick for about 8 weeks, couldn't move arms or legs, had to have a breathing tube...
when one day she awoke and it was GONE!!!!
the doctors couldn't believe it...
NO MORE FLU SHOTS FOR HER!!!!

You were close, Lisa. I did a search and it appears to be Gillian Berea Syndrome.

I sure hope they come up with a diagnosis quickly, Sherry. Not knowing what you are dealing with is the worst.

I'll continue praying!

Abby

Sis called and said they finally got the mri done, and it shows it was not a stroke of any kind, there is nothing on it to indicate there is any type of problem they can see from in the brain.  The dr was doing a lumbar puncture tap this evening to see if he can see anything there. She has never ran a fever either.

He said he was testing her for different types of Encephalitis.

Sis said it fits. she has killed mosquitoes in Mom and Daddy's house because they had early frosts this year and they brought as sis calls them, "Mom's pain in the butt" plants into the house a couple weeks before she started getting so bad.  Her symptoms fit most of the West Nile and St. Louis encephalitis viruses.
just waiting now to see what that shows.
This is the link I read about it.
