Hi,
I have lovebird - 1 yr old. Hand Fed very tame never bits. He never flys over to us. Lets us get him out and then hang on to him. But our couch is only 2 ft from his cage and I wish he would want to fly over to us. Does anyone think he will?

Hehe...  I've been trying to train my lovie to do the same thing.  I've been wanting him to fly over to my shoulder.  I've tried millet and it works sometimes but usually not.  I just have him step up when I want to hold him, because it's the easiest thing to do.  He has to be in the 'mood' to fly over to me.  Little turd...

Hi Julie,
My lovie never flys over to me. He is 1 yr old. He flys over to my other 2 birds though. I have been trying to give him even more attention than normal by bringing him with me in all rooms by hanging on him. He stays on my shoulder and lets me hold him. When he is on my shoulder he wont last longer than 5 mins. Maybe as he gets older he will last longer and fly over to me. How old is your lovie? Is he tame. Mine is very tame. We think he is saying tweet tweet. He loves our other birds and loves to play on top of cage. We have a rope from cage to ceiling he walks/flys up it or jumps over to this small mirror on the wall next to his cage and walks around it and looks at himsself in the mirror and chirps chirps chirps. He is so cute I just love him. You can see him in the picture album

My lovie will come to me on his own if I have something VERY interesting in my lap, like a magazine that I am flirtatiously flipping the pages in, or a shoelace that I dangle and drag across my lap, or something like that.  Then he is there in a flash!  Maybe you could try that?  :)

Good idea I will try. He does jump (fly) over to our area only if the other birds are with us. He loves our citron and cag. But we cant let them together w/out being supervised.
