Thank you Leslie and Dicboiv!  I hope everyone has fun in their celebrating but is safe.  We hope all the animals will come through this okay...knowing that ain't gonna happen...but still will hope for it.  We're going to go down to the docks to fish....and picnic.  We've got the fried chicken, tater salad, cucumber salad, baked beans and some goodies....all packed up ready to go.  It's cloudy and we're expecting some rain...go figure.....no rain for two/three weeks...then BOOM.  lol  We're also going to dip the fish'n poles in the lake...heck...maybe a fish will jump on.  Taking Meiling with us...we're subjecting her to a lot of noise and commotion but want her to get "used" to that kind of stuff.  We've got her carrier as always in the car for her...and we'll have her tethered to me.  If it get's to be too much..we'll come home.  Being out in the woods...there's gunfire all the time....but this is pretty concentrated.  Lots of fireworks going off all during the night somewhere....probably along the lake..but she heard it and kept vigil all night long.
Happy Independence Day America...we'll be praying for our troops...and all the POW's and families.

Happy 4th everyone - we'll be going to my mom's to cook out and watch the fireworks - they set them off from a barge out in the harbor.  We'll be bringing Ninja too - I'll be interested to see her reaction - I brought her for a loooong walk this mornnig to wear her out - we'll go on another one late this afternoon.  Here's hoping Meiling and Ninja make it through the day stress free!

Grrr MSN. Can't get pics to load and most messages won't go through.

Happy 4th, everyone.

Thanks to our Canucks for the happy wishes.

Jen, my dogs go insane every 4th. Poor things tongues hang out panting and they don't eat that day. We are countrified so the neighbors all shoot off those things that sound like cannons. I hate it.
I can see the big display at our city park from my driveway and I can't hear the booms.  Our city sets them off from a tiny island in the middle of our lake The reflections look really pretty.

Our friends in San Antonio said that it is so dry there that anyone caught setting off fireworks will be given a one thousand dollar fine. There will be 11 displays around town but no others are allowed.

Oh Annie.....how are they today..anymore neighbors shooting off the canons still....probably go on all weekend.
I wonder if they have a reward system there in San Antonio.....if you turn someone in...not only does the offending person get the fine....but the person turning them in get the reward.  I've never been lucky enough to see someone driving down the road....throw out trash...and me...right there to see....get their license plate number and happily collect that 500 dollars or what ever the reward is now.

Bob and I and Meiling had a ball yesterday!  We fished all day long..met up with some new found fishing friends there who also showed up.  He's a volunteer fireman..with his own truck..his wife is involved also and they have two kids...about 11 and 12 I think.  Her mother came with them yesterday and we traded stories of how the area USED to be.....she was born and raised here..knows everyone and has a superb memory.  Everyone caught lots of fish..and we picnic'd all day long.  Then...the fireworks...they were absolutely awesome.  The largest and fantastic display in this area.  They set them off at the manmade beach on the otherside of the bridge/road.....we were in a perfect spot to watch although we couldn't hear the band play.  Meiling was great...I had her with me....and she watched the show like a trooper.  The booms were so loud and we could hear the echos all throughout the river/lake area.  It was the kind of display that made tears come to your eyes..and goosebumps pop out on your arms...made you feel even more patriotic than usual.  The traffic going across the bridge went real slow to watch....and truckers would honk to show their approval.  After the show...we could hear cheering and got involved too...all the boats started blowing their horns....it was so neat.  Took an hour to get out....no problems...no accidents..no drunks.  All family oriented..no drinking alcohol allowed.  So many picnics everywhere...I bet the park animals are getting their fill today.  One funny.....every time the "boom!" from particularly large displays would sound off....someone's car alarm would set off too.  Everyone laughed..so funny...that person had to sit there with keys in hand to click the whole time.

Thank goodness they both ate a big breakfast today because I feel sure you're right about more noise tonight. The neighbors have 4 grands who are there a lot and each year, as the kids get older, it gets longer and louder on the 4th.

Glad you had such a nice day. I hibernated and hubby worked at his office all afternoon getting his junk ready to move to a new office. What a mess.

We had fried farm raised catfish for supper. Got them at a restaurant distributor. 15 pounds. I was shocked at how many were in that box. Big fillets. Too big, really, but we managed to eat one each.
Then our bass fisherman friend called and said he has my bass almost ready to bring over. I will have to toss a bunch of my other food if he brings very many. The catfish box takes up half a shelf in the freezer.
Annie
